I will try again to show you people the reality of the situation. You have spent (net) £240m since summer 2005. We have spent (net) Minus £40m You also spend £60m more than us on wages every year. Conservatively that means you have spent £600m more than us in the last 6 years. That doesnt even include your £20m spend on managers every year So where has that £600m got you? Have you got a young and upcoming squad? No, but we do. Have you got a superb manager? No, but we do. Are you a better side than us? No, we are ahead of you despite rebuilding. Surely you must have a better stadium? No, we have a 60k stadium and yours is tiny. Again no income for you in the future. Face it, you are the most underperforming club in world football. You spend the most and yet your team is dire. Edit: During this peroid the spuds have spent £90m (net). Again excluding costs on sacking managers. That is £130m more than us. Although we have spent £290m more on wages than them during this peroid. So thats £160m more we have spent than them and yet we finish above them every single year without fail. Thats how you do it boys.
So you'd rather spend £160mill more than us, win nothing but finish above us than spend more and win stuff like Chelsea? You're a great laugh sometimes, A4L
a. you missed off the most relevant factor - trophies won. b. How does that response in any way deal with your submission that Arsenal are the best team in the country?!?!
What are you talking about YV. We have been unlucky not to win anything but we are also paying off our stadium and are going to be able to compete with even the saudi and russian money soon and then we will win stuff again. Thats my whole point yet you and the chelsea fans cant seem to accept it. You are both stuck in your tiny stadiums. You cant compete with us when we pay off our debts which we have almost done.
I said at the moment we are the best and its hard to argue with. RVP is flying. Rosicky is playing like a world class playmaker (that he once was). Gervinho and walcott are competing for a place. Oxo looks like a top class player, he has it all. Song and arteta look solid in the middle. Our defence is back to fitness and looks solidish and our keeper is the best in the league.
And your season is over in March and you've been knocked out of 2 comps in 2 weeks. A couple of good league results aside your season is once again a failure. No trophies in 7 years and no sign of that changing soon especially with RVP contract situation. Yes you have a nice stadium, remember though that all your trophies came when you were at little 'tiny' Highbury.
Plus we dont even need champions league footie to sustain our model. No risk for us. After 2014 our kit sponsorship and shirt sponsorship deals are up and we will be making an extra £30m a year. WHich is exactly what we get from champions league footie. You boys have no idea how strong of a position we are in. Worry about your own shambles imo.
Dont believe the bs that we got bossed at klanfield because we didnt. We won the game end of story. And the san siro we played badly vs one of the best sides in the world. It happens. Get over it.
Is football about making money or winning trophies? Do you have a poster of your balance sheet on your bedroom wall next to the most expensive ticket stubs in world football?
Same old though mate isnt it. Short termist. Eventually we will get trophies on the back of our strong financial models.
Says who? You win trophies on the pitch not in the board room. I'll enjoy our 'short term' success and you enjoy dreaming pal. It's pretty tragic really. Arsenal used to win stuff, not talk about what they might win one day. Regardless of us and Spurs, you still miles off the Manchester clubs so no guarantee you'll win anything any time soon.
So why on Earth were you bragging about how little you think your club spends and how well they're doing to perform slightly better than they should be?
WHen they werent trying in the ecl. They wanted that league title last year. This year they are happier to compete on both fronts. And if you dont believe me look at their winter buys last year. They spent loads on players cup tied for your games and then werent up for your game anyway. And schzeney is the best in the league. Cech used to be quality but since his injury he gets scared and has therefore lost his edge.
"9. Why is commercial revenue so low? Arsenal’s weakness in this area arises from the fact they had to tie themselves into long-term deals to provide security for the stadium financing, which arguably made sense at the time, but recent deals by other clubs have highlighted the lost opportunities. The Emirates deal was worth £90 million, covering 15 years of stadium naming rights (£42 million) running until 2020/21 and 8 years of shirt sponsorship (£48 million) until 2014. Similarly, the club signed a 7-year kit supplier deal with Nike for £55 million until 2012, but that has since been extended by 3 years until 2014. So, following step-ups, the shirt sponsorship deal is reportedly worth £5.5 million a season, which compares highly unfavourably to the £20 million earned by Liverpool from Standard Chartered, Manchester United from Aon and (reportedly) Manchester City from Etihad. Even more galling is that Tottenham now earn £12.5 million a season from shirt sponsorship (Auresma £10 million plus Investec £2.5 million). It’s the same story on the continent with Barcelona’s first-ever shirt sponsorship deal with the Qatar Foundation worth £26 million. The news is no better with Arsenal’s kit deal, which now delivers £8 million a season, compared to the £25 million deal recently announced by Liverpool with Warrior Sports and the £25.4 million paid to Manchester United by Nike. It’s not overly dramatic to say that Arsenal leave at least £30 million a season on the table, because of these historical commercial deals, which would fund the purchase of one great player every season. One of the club’s biggest challenges is how to bridge this gap until 2014, when these deals are up for renewal."
Ah the Swiss Rambler. A basic knowledge of football combined with some slanted financial analysis. Come 2014 you won't be setting any records for sponsorships!
