For the first time in many years Liverpool were on the brink of winning the title in 2008/2009 season and Manchester United took away the title from them. Rafa Benitez was ill advised to play Fergie's mind game and it failed to work, I can only pray that Mancini is going to learn from Rafa's mistakes then. City have spent more than twice what Liverpool spent then, and it is going to be almost a disaster if United takes away the title from City. It can only say one thing- money is not every thing.!
I think the whole 'mind games' thing is a fallacy tbh. Fergie gets results from average players and instills the confidence to cross the line is all. I genuinely think City will win this year even now as their team are stronger all over the pitch and bench. That may be enough for them this season.
I think City will win the league this season. It is going to be tight but they will win on goal difference+ like mentioned they have strength all over the pitch
I think City's away form is too poor and will be in their mind on their travels now - pains me to say it but I think utd will win.
I agree we have been poor away from home but we have managed to stay top throughout, if we end up second this season we will have improved on last so we are still heading in the right direction. On the subject of money It has turned us from a mid table club into one that has won a cup for the first time in donkeys years, got us into the CL and broken the monopoly at the top of the PL, i think it shows money is everything.
I reckon United will take it, as they have the easier run-in, but it'll be close: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17334542
There's plenty of twists left in this season. Some people are assuming things are now 'givens' - they are far from it.
This ^ There is plenty more to come from this season yet. One point is nothing and can easily be turned around (as this weekend proved ).
I'm still hoping we do win it though It would be some achievement with this current squad especially considering the injuries we have suffered this season. It will be an interesting and also nervous run in ( as the crying Citeh fan proved yesterday) Squeaky Bum Time
My worry is our next PL game is against Chelsea, if we play like we did yesterday we will get our arses kicked, RM is saying Tevez will be in the side so that may give the team a boost.
But that's what any league is all about isn't it? Last season you won the title without being the best football team. It was as much others failing to take their opportunities as it was United's footballing prowess. This season, you are repeating the same in terms of your performances but you face a City side that nobody can make predictions about. They could crumble or they could 'step up to the plate' and that is totally out of your hands.
Dave is so wise he could navigate the Bermuda Triangle on the Marie Celeste so be careful dribbles or you'll end up walking the plank next to RHC.
