Musty it's called the 'Manager' ? We've had Middlesbrough, Blackpool, and Birmingham all after him for their transfer push, so why would Rodgers let him go to Kairdiff ? besides I don't think he's played hoofball.................
" Further squad strengthening " .... Don't you have to have a strong squad first before you can further strengthen it ... itseems to me anyways
nowt wrong with cardiff breeze, and tbh dobbie wouldnt add fk all,we play football not paper scissors stone on the halfway line
Well I'd like to see you boys get at least another striker on loan , doesn't seem like to much to ask .
Nice thread Bob and one asking the questions that many of us ask. I'm a little disappointed that we haven't strengthened in order to build on an unexpectedly good start to the season. However, when DJ failed to bring in anyone I defended him by suggesting that the right players at the right terms and with the right attitudes were simply not available. I'm sure I've heard speak of some unsuccesful bids during the last window, so perhaps MM finds himself in the same boat as DJ and many other Championship managers. Unfortunately, I don't think we're going to make it this season and that's a shame given the start we made. Our season seems to be reflecting our games in as much as we've surrendered more winning positions than any other club in the division. Quite a difficult situation to make sense of in many ways, and one that asks many questions, as demonstrated in this thread. One thing is for certain, if MM was not under pressure this season, he certainly should be next.
I think it's a blessing in disguise if we don't go up this season!! I prob get a lot of stick for this but the squad is to thin and would take a lot of investment just to attempt to survive in the BPL...I would rather build on what we got lets learn to walk before we can run... If Malky can bring in another 10 players like he did last summer but in key positions (striker and a few pacey wingers) and ship out the dead wood ie Parkin...we have a strong squad and all under contract pushing for promotion just like Swansea did, We all forget 'when' we get promoted a majority of the money will go straight to our creditors (Langston) and bonuses to the players and wage rises etc so there won't be much left in the pot so let's get a strong squad with depth before we take a leap to the promised lands
As has been pointed out we weren't expecting promotion, but after about 20 games, we changed our goals. I would make a bet that MM has been chasing promotion from day one. That is why the inactivity in the market has stumped me a little. We reallly needed a striker in January. I can't believe there was not one available capable of at least matching Kenny. Anyway, I hope we win the next 4 and the debate becomes moot
I'd rather us get our blip out of the way and get into the playoffs with a run of form to give us some momentum rather than end up 6th on the way down and go into the games on the back foot. We just need to make sure we are in the playoffs then wait for the roulette wheel to stop spinning!
We played bad and won at bristol not like some prem teams that play bad and not turn up and lose ................ring any bells? ;O)
Itiw: I know a lot can happen in 10 days but unless another 'Pompey' happens, I don't think we'll get anyone else in...not for the want of trying though. Just seems to be a pattern forming where its left to the last minute at the risk of losing out. If no one comes in, MM surely has to start using the 'forgotten' players on the bench and not just because of injury.
i dont think he's suited to championship football tbh, i think there are better options out there if they are available but clubs wont loan out good players at this stage in the season as h says..
If Vukcic has gone perhaps that leaves the gap we need for someone more suited to Championship football and our needs, i.e. another striker and a pacy winger. I don't think Newcastle have problems in his position so maybe they think he doesn't get enough game time? Nothing on City website yet. I played squash at the Vale last Thursday and saw Vukcic doing some gentle exercise in the gym, I assume he was staying there. He looked bright enough then.
