Just having a ponder about the summer, and possible movers... The one's i think may happen....(don't mean i agree with them) Sess............sold Gardner........sold Elmo............sold Gordon.........sold Ji................loan Bramble........released Bendtner......returned Bridge..........returned ..................................................................................... May be way off.....but we'll see..
2bh mate if that happens there is only Sess that I would be gutted about as all the others are certainly replaceable IMO we need to do all we can to keep the lad at the club because as Martin O'Neil has said he is a match winner and to be a top team you need one. IMO opinion I think there will be one or two of the lads who have been regulars since MoN came in moved on this summer with MoN looking to bring his own players into the club I think there will be 5 or 6 out and 5 or 6 in
I would like to keep Sess at all costs, and Gardener aswell. Both of these players will prove important to us. Sess especially. I love that little 5' hunk of man meat.
I don't think Gardner will go anywhere, but sadly, I agree that we will find it really tough to hang on to Sessegnon, hopefully he's seen enough under MON to believe the club can progress. I think Bridge might stay on, he's settled quickly and looked not bad at all when he's appeared, assuming he accepts that the wages will be more realistic. Gordon, out of contract, he is likely to go, an Ji on loan i'd agree is a cert. I'd suggest Turner might move on, I know he's been in excellent form, but he won't be first choice even with Brown fit, and i'm pretty sure MON will be looking to bring a ball playing CB in, if possible Elmo simply must go, he's young enough to develop into a half decent player, but at this stage in the clubs progression, we can't afford him game time, I wish him well. Hopefully we can offload Angeleri, and I believe we have a year left on Ringo's deal, so we have the annual saga of getting him away from the club so he can cause no damage... I think as well a few of the younger lads who have threatened to break through but not quite done it may move on, some loan, some permanent. I don't think we need a stack of players in, a top end CB and a striker, and i'll be pretty satisfied. Obviously if we did lose Sess we'd need some creativity, but we'd have a stack of money to go and get it. I'd personally be thinking about Adel Taarabt if we do lose him.
We say nearly every year that it's going to be really interesting to see what the manager does in the summer - but this year could be really fascinating. We've a good squad, and a manager who knows how to get the best out of them. He's bound to have his own ideas and plans; he'll know the type of player he wants, and just as importantly has the status and presence to attract higher quality players. He's also spent big in the past at Villa, so I can see a few moving on with far better players coming in. I don't think we'll see Bruce style shopping sprees for 5,6 or more at a time but 2 or 3 who'll make a difference. Finishing top 10 (dare we dream for 8th or higher ?) with MON at the helm gives me confidence we'll be bringing in some really good players - and hopefully we'll hold on to Sess as well !
I think it's fair to say that a higher calibre of player will be interested in playing for MON, with no disrespect to Bruce. MON is a massively respected gaffer, and renowned for getting the best out of people.
I think Gardener will stay and obviously I hope Sessegnon does too but it will be difficult to keep a player of his quality. I wouldn't sell Sessegnon for anything less than £20 million and believe he is worth every penny of a £25 million fee even in today's depreciating market.
Think Gardner will be gone in the Summer back to the Midlands would prefer he stayed as he is getting better and better with us. Sess will only go if it is an upward move and he gets guarantees that he will play regularly. Unless Gordons contract is sorted soon he'll go as well again would like to keep him. Then for me it'll be the dead wood that is left over that don't play, then we have Ji who I think will be loaned out next season to beef him up a bit.
I would agree with your list Commachio, bar Gardner. He seemed to suggest the whole homesick business was bollocks. Of course its whether O'Neill fancies him having already sold him once as a player. Sessegnon is the one you could do with keeping but that will be tough going I would think. I see him at Arsenal to be honest, as I think Wenger likes a player with that kind of intelligence. Any team would but particularly Wenger. Gordon is out of contract? They'll be queuing up if he is on a free. I'm sure that lad will come good. You just have to hope that O'Neill doesn't make the same mistake a lot of managers do in their first real window, a massive overhaul. I doubt he will.
I'm not so sure that Sessignon or Gardner, who I believe are two players who have been on top of their games of late, will go in the summer. Out of the list, these are the two players who I would most like to keep, although I still feel that under MON's guidence, Elmo will improve and develop into a good player. If these players feel that the club is going places, they just might want to be a part of it.
Wonder what will become of Riveros. He's a very good player, maybe MON might be able to get him playing. He scored on his last appearance for us, of course. He's a better natural footballer than Gardner, and Gardner has been very valuable indeed.
I think keep Sess depends on our ambition. Lets face it the EPL clubs interested in him will probably be Arsenal or Spurs. Other than that I can only see interest coming from abroad. Spurs might not make the champions league and in all honesty Sess might be a little old and expensive for Wenger. We just need to offer him top wages to make sure he stays. It really will be down to Sess and if he thinks Sunderland can win things and get into Europe. Gardner I would like to keep to. I think Bramble will be sold/released. One of Gardner, Colback, Meyler, Vaughan, Catts will leave IMO. I don't have a clue which one. I think Bendtner will go back but Bridge might stay. I can see us signing a CB and a Striker.
I think Sess staying will have alot to do with who MoN buys in the summer. I think the outs will be Gyan Elmo Bramble Kilgallon
