I dont think there are many Liverpool fans out there at the moment who are completely happy with the results we are getting at the moment. But you have to look for the positives: 1.There are 3 massive games involving Liverpool football club this week. -Liverpool vs Everton, ( everton on a massive run, can we compete in the face of Adversity.) -Liverpool U19s vs Ajax, (A semi final in europe...woohoo) -Liverpool vs Stoke, (win this one and we are going back to wembley.) 2. We have great youth!!! - If you think the first team is lacking a creative midfielder, check out Suso on Wednesday, he dribbles, he shoots for distant, he passes short, he passes long...Great Talent! -If you think we are missing something out wide, check out Raheem Sterling on wednesday.......He runs like a gazelle, the skills of a brain surgeon, and he scores to boot!!! 3. We have fantastic owners Who will do the right thing...On and off the pitch!! -A few years ago a survey was done of which world series baseballl teams had the best owners. Ole Tom HIcks came 2nd to bottom....I dont need to tell you who came top!!! 4. We are playing good football -We are not putting the ball in the back of the nest enpough by a long way, but the ethos of the football we are playing is there and for the future. The only game we have been played off the park this season was the 4-0 against Tottenham and we had two players sent off. -I am extrmely glad that our football is infuriating rather than embarrassing. 5. We have a manager that loves our club more than anything and if the owners do decide to change at the end of the season, he wil undertand and stay with the club in some capacity. (Peronally I would like him to stay - Kenny was the ultimate forward on and off the pitch and there is no one I would rather have looking for our summer striker.) In short, keep behind the team, be realistic, Rome wasnt built in a day and the best things come to those who wait......... Out of the three games this week it is wednesday that excites me most as that is where the future of Liverpool lies, and there is alot to be excited about...... We do badly need a striker, but I know the owners know that even more than me, and they will dip their hands in their pockets in the summer......it goes without saying YNWA
Good article Redbrynner! Agree with the points you've made. Our youth is crucial to the future of our football club and it's looking good at the moment. We've got Rodolfo Borrell in charge of the reserves and his C.V says everything. He knows what he is doing when it comes to the youth. He has worked with and helped develop players like Messi, Pique, Fabregas and many more. I can't think of anyone better for the job. That's a positive for the future. We were in the **** less than 18 months ago. Confidence was low, we were playing some pretty awful football and off the pitch, we were in big trouble. The steps we have taken in that time has been excellent. It's a work in progress and it will take time. Yes, we are all disappointed with the results. We will have more bad days like we did yesterday. But we'll have some great days as well. Let's look forward, together. We are Liverpool Football Club.
Good article pal I really need to watch some reserve / youth team football to see what Suso and Sterling are like. Only worry is, Pacheco look like a world beater in our reserves, as he did at the under 21s (???) tournament for Spain, but then he was struggling to make the step up to the first team. He is not completely out of the running mind, he is getting first team experience in Spain this season so he may well come back to be part of our squad next year. That or he will be permanently moved on. There is Jonjo Shelvey too so we have plenty of young promising options.
Nice to see a good thread looking at the positive. For those who want to vent, fine that is your want. I really hope we can get the FA Cup it would be a very, very good season if we could do a cup double.
Cheers for your replys guys....Really cant wait until wednesday. Suso and Sterling seem to be making improvements every game and seem to have the right attitude. I understand what the guy above said about Pacheco as i expected massive things from the guy, The attitude of some of young players indicates a much better mentalilty and desire to suceed than Dani...I really hope he still makes it though....Still check every sunday to see how he got on. Hasnt had much game time since his injury. I really believe that a few of our youngsters will have a first team impact at Liverpool though and improve what we already have.
Good article - people need to calm the f*ck down and look at the positives as you have stated them. Anyone who expected us to be challenging for the league this season doesn't understand football.
It's true - not all is bad. I think the reason some of our fans are a bit angry is because the chance we had to get that top 4 spot due to the under performance of Arsenal and Chelsea this year. At the start of the season I think 80% of us would have agreed that we wouldn't get a champions league spot this season. What frustrates the hell out of me is that one week we can create a bag full of chances and play lovely football and then the next we look like we haven't got an idea in our head and create zero scoring opportunities. But at least we know we are capable of playing good football and controlling games against strong opposition - just need to put in into practice so we are doing this week in week out
I think this is down to the opposition we are facing the tactics they employ. The so-called better sides try have a bit more of a go at us leaving a bit more space for us to exploit. The so-called lesser sides are more defensive and make it harder for us to get through and create something. The only real creative player we have is Suarez, the other option is to play Carroll and put crosses in but we don't seemt o like doing this and the so-called lesser sides are usually better suited to defending these tactics. Also explains why our performances are much better against the better sides too.
