In our system Goetz could no more play Walcott's position than Walcott could play Goetz's.

While I agree Wenger doesn't spend silly money on one player. BUT didn't he bid £30mn for Gotze at the end of the transfer window and get rejected?? If then maybe he is willing to spend big for a talent (and young)

We already have two potentially top top class midfielders in Wilshere and Chamberlain.

However Goetze can play in a variety of positions and is of such a high quality that he would be a huge asset to any squad.

Maybe he will part the opponents defence and lead us to the promised land.

Goetze is more than welcome at Arsenal! Can't really see this one going through though, wasn't it only last summer he was saying he didn't want to leave Dortmund? A lot can change in a year I suppose but young German players like to grow in the Bundesliga first before moving on and he is still very young.

would anyone doubt that wenger would spend 25m on a 19yr old with about 50 games under his belt for his club ...!!

the doubts are would he spend 25m on a mid 20's experienced been there seen it done and tee shirt type of player we need ...

how many promising 19 yr olds does one club need to build a Carling Cup team.

    Funny thread.

As usual Toledo is chatting .... how you say ... hezbollah, he says one sensible thing then says something ridiculously absurd. A player with good technique can play any position - he doesn't have to set the world on fire, he just needs to do a job. when SAF played Rooney as a wide right (Ronaldo's last season), Rooney did a job. when he was played as a lone striker the season after Ronaldo left, he did a job. Now he is playing as the deeper striker of the 2 in their 4-4-2 and is doing a job.

The first thing you have to do when playing out of position is get the basics right, sort out your first touch, knock the ball simple, to a team mate. Walcott is forever losing the ball and his first touch is poor far too often.

Goetze has a good first touch and doesn't lose the ball that easily, so straight away he is an improvement over Walcott.

As for Moses - are you lot having a bubble bath with a giraffe ??

The problem is Walcott has his good points like blistering pace, good movement and good finishing. But he has the worst ball control of any player in our squad. If he sorted that part of his game then he would be a quality player but couple this with his clueless play on the right, makes for frustrating watching at times. As i said before, unless he makes a marked improvement soon, he will find himself down on the pecking order with Gervinho, OXO, Miyaichi etc all being selected over him.

As for Moses, i think most of us are having a laugh....

Its not just poor ball control. He is also weak on the ball. I thought small guys were meant to have a low centre of gravity and be strong. Theo obviously is the exception to the rule. Also his final ball is dire and, lets face it, waddle was right he has no football brain

He is built for sprinting but lacks any real muscle, maybe he needs to strengthen his legs to withstand tussles? Small people like Messi etc have pretty big legs that allow them to stay up right, Walcott is light all over, which is bad for a physical exhange but great for a quick pick up and flat sprint.

The thing is, Walcott was never as good as people made him out. He was blown way out of proportion in the media. Yes he was good but nothing amazing. In fact, there is no one and this includes Wilshere, that is special. It's just media hyping up English players more than their worth.

Now look at the Spanish team and you will see special players. Look at the German team and you see special players. Look at the Dutch squad and you see special player. Look at the Argentina squad and you see special players, etc. There is no one special in the England team, with the exception of Rooney, maybe....

The best player for Man City is foreign, the best player for Man United is a toss up between Nani/Rooney, the best player for Chelsea is foreign, the best player for Arsenal is foreign, the best player for Spurs is foreign....

Manures best 3 players: 1, Rooney 2, Vidic 3, Nani
    City 1, silva 2, Kompany 3, Aguero
Spuds 1, Modric 2, VdV 3, Barndoor or the diver
    Arsenal 1, RVP 2, Sagna 3, Wilshire
    Chavs 1, Mata 2, Terry 3, Rameries
    Racists 1, Racist #1 (gk) 2, Racist #2 (cf) 3, Lucas

And ya agree with everything you wrote. English players suck big time and yet are hyped alot. I doubt andy carrol would even be a pro in spain. Yet he got bought for £35m by the racists due to media hype <laugh>

Lol@ the racists. Even in your list you're being generous. I think Terry is past it and i'd put Drogba instead of him. For Arsenal, your being overly generous by putting in Wilshere as either Verm/Kos/Cesney would be number 3 for me. What is damning is that teams like Spurs and Liverpool have invested heavily in English talent, yet none of the players make the top 3! At least with us, we have Wilshere and OXO who can make the top 3 soon....

This is why the England team is so poor!
