What can I say, perfect away performance. Every single one of the players contributed something to the victory today, hare are my ratings: Lonergan - 6/7 - Solid for most of the match, didn't have much to do but nearly gifted them a goal with a fumble at the end. Connolly - 7 - His usual self when playing well; anonymous in a good way, did nothing wrong. Lees - 7 - Same as Connolly, did his job and you would barely notice he was on the pitch. O'Dea - 8 - Fantastic performance, maybe didn't win as much as he should in the air but put his body in front of everything and his ground defending was excellent. Robinson - 8/9 - Looks a great signing, put his body in the way of a few attempted crosses, put in a few crunching tackles and good interceptions and that clearance from the 'Boro corner was amazing. Clayton & Brown - 8 - I'll rate these two together as they pretty much played as a team, not much creativity but they hussled and harried 'Boro whenever they were in possession and used the ball well when we had it. White - 8 - Overran the ball a couple of times, but did well to set up Snoddy for the opener and troubled them all game. McCormack - 9 - Another great performance, deserved a goal but did brilliantly to set up Becchio and looked dangerous. Snodgrass - 8/9 - Got a goal and, while not at his best, still showed his usual class. Becchio - 8/9 - Got his usual poacher's goal and whenever long balls weren't pinging off him to other Leeds players they were sticking to him, looked like he did last season. Subs: Webber - 6/7, Forssell - N/A Team Rating: 9/10
Straight Red today should mean that Barry Robson (subject to an appeal) will miss Boro's games against Birmingham, West Ham & Bristol City. Perhaps the 6 point gap might start to reduce some more?
Defence is looking so much better now, and if McCormack and Becchio keep playing like they did today, next season could be a really really good one!
The Hull mods like to have a little tinker with the other peoples posts! He probably got advice from Dutch Mountain Twat, king of post amending and then wriggling his way out of it!
Hmm, a good result but can't help feeling like the performance wasn't up to scratch. Maybe my expectations are too high but i didn't really think anyone had an amazing performance. O'Dear, Brown and McCormack were probably the better players but I just thought that Boro were ****ter than us to be honest rather than a good performance. And can anyone tell me why Boro's man got sent off. One of the worse decisions I have seen. As soon as it happened I said they should both walk away with a talking to. Can imagine Boro appealing that one Anyway, good to walk away with the 3 points
He twatted Clayton in the face, twice, then attempted to kick him as a backlash. On top of a reputation for being "feisty" with his 13 yellows and 3 reds so far this season.
We had to rewind it a few times, but it's pretty clear why he got a sending off. Maybe a little harsh but Clayton got booked, so a sending off was only fair as Robson's actions were worse.
More like boro were **** cos we didnt give them an inch to play in. Pressed all over the pitch and they couldnt cope
Yea we did pressure well and thats been the main difference since warnock for me. But our passing was not good, we lumped balls forward for Becchio who was isolated a lot of the time so when he did win headers or control the ball (which I dont think he did enough of in all honesty) there was no one there to help him. A few times we were breaking with snoddy or McCormack on the ball and no one was making meaningful runs off the ball to allow them to play a good ball through. Clayton for me was quite mediocre today and many are saying he played well. Aidy white is scared to use his right foot as well, there was one instance where he had beaten his man round the outside and got himself some space, hesitated to kick with right so that by the time he did play the ball the defender had caught him again. think mediocre sums up our attacking display today to be honest, long balls up followed by nothing. Middlesborough were just **** to be honest. We'll have to play better than that against West Ham IMO
Hi Leeds fans, good win for you guys today, can you please do the same against West Ham at home for us Saints ? Though Middlesborough were abject today and cannot really see them competing for the autos now; the referee didn't help them mind!
I really am beginning to wonder if we were watching the same match. I thought that we had a magnificent team performance, the emphasis being on the word 'team'. Yes, we did pressure, but it wasn't just that. Every player knew exactly what he had to do. Our organisaion was tremedous, and the passion and zest was there for all to see. We've rarely seen this all come together under Grayson. (Here's hoping we get used to it under NW!). Yes, it could be said that no-one played perfectly, but you could say that about any player on the pitch. I don't know why you're being so picky, and I'm particularly annoyed at you picking out Clayton. I thought he was excellent today, and reminded me of Rat Boy when he was at his peak. What exactly do you expect Warnock to do in such a short time, and why are you so afraid to enjoy a victory?
yea, okay Whitejock, as I said maybe my expectations are getting the better of me but it seemed to me that we closed down well and put pressure on well, we also defended well and credit to O'Dear but our attack wasn't very good imo. We just lumped balls up to Becchio, it was quite scrappy in that respect. Maybe im just taking away from a good win. I just didn't think we were that good, compare that game with the Southampton game and we were playing cutting edge balls and keeping the ball well, we didn't do that against Boro
Mod's can only actually alter posts on their own board, altering the text in a response can be done by anyone and this was quite obviously a joke, lighten up.
