The opposition results could just be a freak or a consequence of who they're playing. To say a consistent performance means nothing is simply not the case. You seem to mix the outcome of games with the performance for both ourselves and our rivals. I agree with Nick Barmby, it's frustrating, but I'd rather we were in the position we are, with a problem being clear, than having to see-saw between tweaking the defence to help the forwards and vice-versa. We ARE going for wins, they're just not coming, but we're building solidly from the back. I'm not sure what you expect to change to get this pendulum set of results you seem to prefer, You would prefer to lose and take no account of our performance. That to me is a bizarre position to take.
For the first time yesterday, I realised that we are actually doing very well, considering the season that we have had. We started this season with a manager who's heart was elsewhere. He built a team on defence and nothing else. Now we have a manager who is new to the job, players who are young, a pitch that is knackered and owners who have quite rightly guarded about spending big money on transfers. Still in with a chance of a play off place, so why are do we get supporters feeling miffed? A couple of errors cost us, but Ipswich are not a poor side are they?
I don't care where the manager's heart was/is. He did a good job then left for a bigger wage in the Midlands. We move on.
You keep attributing me with statements that I have not made. At no time have I said what we are doing is bad. At no time have I said what I would prefer. At no time have I said that we are not going for wins. I say yet again. You started this thread stating people are being unreasonable for being frustrated with our recent run of draws. Now you say you agree with Nick Barmby that it is frustrating. How ironic. What I don't like is the blind obedience syndrome, as I call it, you would perhaps call it poodleism. It's where anyone who dares to have an opinion that is entirely reasonable (so much so that even Nick Barmby says he shares that opinion), is shouted down and declared their point of view invalid.
Oh, I'm sorry, did I misinterpret your original post? What is it now, a ten game unbeaten run? You'd never believe it reading some posts on here. Perhaps your sarcasm was too subtle for me. please log in to view this image
Do your job right for once, mate, and lock the thread. It was a non-subject to start with but now you've just turned it into a self-indulgence exercise.
The indulgence is all yours. Unlike you, I'm quite happy for people to have alternative opinions to mine. Like you I'd prefer it if people didn't attribute statements to me I've never made, but if that' what they need to do to make a point, I can live with it. I still think a decent unbeaten run with good performances and clear signs of where we need to click is something to be proud of. You feel we'd have been better off being more erratic. It seems odd to me, but it's your choice.
There are cases for both arguments. The first being 'unbeaten gives you a solid platform to build on' and 'win one lose one gets you more points than drawing every game'. I think we are building a solid foundation for next season as too many draws will probably cost us this season. The addition of a proven striker in the summer could be the final piece n the jigsaw, which sees us challenging the top 2 this time next year.
I wouldn't disagree with any of that. What I'm not sure about is, given we're going for it every game and creating chances, how we change from drawing to losing/winning?
I don't think we will change in time to win enough games this season, hence we may just miss out. I think the frustration from the fans goes back to media hype about having money to spend and us "choosing not to do so" having been firmly in the play off hunt when the transfer window was open.
