Can we consolidate all of our Green vs. Wagstaff debates into one easy to manage Green vs. Wagstaff Debate?

Because this is a discussion forum.
Green is a better player but not by much. he doesn't deserve to be an automatic choice every game. I was disappointed though that he never got the chance to play in the same team as Benson.

I'll say green. I know waggy got a goal and an assist, but also take into consideration all of the nothing games he had.

I'm actually very envious of leyton orient getting Campbell-Ryce on loan.

Green has nothing games most weeks at the valley...though seems to of been better st away games by all accounts.
I think Green could be the better if he had waggy`s attitude unfortunately he thinks he`s better than he is which lets him down.
And the waggy solly partnership is better than solly Green

I have to say I'm shocked it's 6-2 Waggy at the moment.

I'm not for one minute saying Green is something special - as others have said he seems to think he is better than he is and can be frustrating at times.

But again as others have said he is one of them players who you just feel could turn it on at any moment.

I'm not going to repeat my Anti-Waggy sentiments but I am very surprised that anyone think she has a future in football; he's a competiton winner at best.

Why be shocked everyone applauds loyalty and if there is a bit of talent to go with it, then it is applauded. I like most on here do not believe that Danny Green is bad and certainly I don't think Scott Wagstaff is the best player I have seen on the right in a Charlton shirt. Wagstaff has been with us all the way through but Green was "let go" proved himself at Daggers and has been brought back. There is a feeling that CP has played Green because he bought him but Wagstaff was one of the leftovers. They have both contributed to the season and I don't think we would be where we are without both of them.

Think I've made my views pretty clear elsewhere. In short, for my money Green is potentially a quality player. His crossing is excellent when on song and he looks to be a threat even when he's off form. He is inconsistent and his penchant for pulling out of 50-50 tackles is infuriating. If he was made out of chocolate he would eat himself. But he has something that I would pay to watch. Wagstaff in my view is a headless chicken who lacks discipline and the basic ability to go past his man. He rolls around as if shot looking for free kicks. I suspect he is being played out of position. He is not a top quality winger. I suspect he could be effective just off a front two or in a five man midfield. But I think he has found his level and will not be up to the Championship if/when we get there. I believe that Green will. I am making no allowance in my judgement for the fact that Waggy is "one of us". I think that colours a lot of oeople's judgement, just as it did with Robbie Elliott. I don't dislike Waggy as some others clearly do, I just don't rate him particularly as a footballer. He has a place in our squad as Saturday showed, but he is not a first choice. Green would be in my team every time

If Green is so much better then why is it that Waggy scored a good goal and created another, and I can't remember Green doing these two things in one game?

Nether are consistent enough. On their day I would say Green is the better bet. But Green does not have enough good days, I get the feeling he knows he's good, but thinks he's great. You cannot dismiss Waggy's loyalty & work ethic, give me a hard worker with some talent rather than a lazy one who oozes talent (which Green does not). The one plus on Green's side, is that he can learn to work harder. How much more Waggy can learn on technique & develop his skill I am not sure about.

The ten minute period after half-time worked well because we got the ball down the flanks and pinged balls in to the centre. After that, it was hit and hope up to Kermit.

Therefore, I would like to see Waggy and Green on the wings, with Kermit and BWP operating as conventional strikers - not dropping back to cover all sorts of positions.

If it is a straight choice between the two, I would pick Waggy. He is not the greatest player, but he is quick, has an eye for a goal and works tirelessly for ninety minutes. Green, on the other hand, tries to play a style beyond his capabilities and is too lazy for my liking. But he does whip in a nice cross and would perhaps counterbalance Waggy's weakness in that area.

Jackson is not fit and it shows - badly.

Is it worth noting too that Colchester and Notts are two of Jacko's former clubs?

Green undoubtedly has more skill, but Wagstaff tries harder and after the Colchester game Green deserved to be dropped, and after the County game Wagstaff deserves a shot.

I think Green was actually injured (officially) for the Notts game - shoulder injury or something according to the cafc twitter feed...

Personally I think Danny Green is the better player, but its hard to argue with the number of goals Waggy scores.

I guess if we were struggling with strikers, Waggy may be the better option, but with decent strikers, Green's crosses pay off.

Waggy infuriates me, the slightest nudge and he leaps to the floor with his arms in the air staring at the ref/lino. Green on the other hand, I've never seen shout at a lino, quite the contrary, a lot of the time I see him chuckle and give a thumbs up to them.

I can't remember if it was a cup game, but there was one game where for a decent amount of time, both Waggy and Green were playing together on the same side of midfield - both taking it in turns to cut inside while the other goes out on the wing. If we were to see this again, it would be a great way to utilise both of their contrasting abilities, but I fear it would put the rest of the team off balance.

I'm not sure if Green (much like Stephens) is being used in a way that brings the best out of him. It's evident that CP favours a flat midfield 4 - preferring right midfielders to ''wingers''.

I think if Green was asked to abandon his defensive duties a little and to concentrate on taking players on and getting forward then we would see the player the Daggers would rave about (and caught the eye of so many managers).
