Because in 4411 the wingers have to be good defensively: Dos Santos is not. He could play the VdV role though.

Sacrificing that defensive ability ( which I don't agree) and keeping a proven system is surely better than 4-4-2 where we don't perform anywhere near our best.

welcome Blackboots...and your right Dos Santos would be fine on the right but Harry is stuck in his ways...then again when it comes to Gio i always think Harry has a dislike to his attitude so refuses to give him a chance..something i understand for the ethics of the club<ok>

  6. I would certainly rather put Dos Santos on the right than either Kranjcar or Moddy.

There aren't any real reasons, however you can see Bale has developed confidence and he has an air of arrogance to his play but then again thats what all the top players need, rooney had it as he was coming on the stage, ronaldo used to have the same arrogance.

What we're seeing now is Bale is showing levels of inconsistency so fans start to believe he is under performing cause he thinks he is better then he actually is, when the reality is he is just a huge talent, with massive ability that is still learning the game and will go through patches like this, until he is in a settled position week in, week out.

He has been used on the wing and through the centre and shown just how good he is at both positions but what do fans expect? him to be top class each game? its not gonna happen and yes he is slightly arrogant on the pitch but he clearly needs that side to him to make it to the top.

Not even Wenger would agree with you there...and if you signed Bale you would have more chance of keeping RVP....get a grip....you make 1 good point but that gives you no excuse to chat bollocks the rest of the time <ok>

There's definitely some ego there on the pitch, nothing unusual though or enough to warrant him being singled out as some great ego maniac that we're better off without. As 'Arry has said before; off the pitch he's a quiet, nice boy who spends his time off going back to Wales to see his mum, he's not in the papers(intentionally or unintentionally) for off the field antics and has never talked up transfers to try and get a bigger contract or tried to force a move when the Barca rumours started.

In short, Arsenal4Life is talking ****e.

I'd not spotted it was you first post Blackboots - welcome to the forum. I agree with you that 4411 works a lot better than 442, particularly if the 1 is VdV who covers a lot of ground and makes up for the shortfall in midfield. I like systems with two holding midfielders better though as I think that frees the creative players to be creative. I think Harry likes to have his best XI on the field though, and also likes sticking to the 'same' system but doesn't really distinguish between 442 and 4411 so he ends up with players out of their comfort zone.

I think the media sort of understands that England doesn't have good enough players to win the world cup, but they'd rather we gave it a good go, the 'English' way rather than do a poor impression of Holland or Spain. Hence Harry is their choice.

Seriously doubt we would want bale. His attitude stinks. A bad influence on the team imo. Thats what I have seen last 3 games for you. The evidence is there if you chose to ignore it. You are collapsing so I understand the going into your shells and getting defensive. But it is better to be realistic imo.

So have your mods worked out who he is yet? Strange that someone waits until February to sign up and can't stop posting.

You would rather I lie? I have tried to engage with spurs fans the last few days and have to admit your not a bad bunch. However I still feel bale is a bad influence and his ego has spread through your team.

  18. No, I'd rather you stop talking bollocks.

If you genuinely belief half the rubbish you are spouting about Bale, then you are a fool. If you had him, I guarantee he'd be the first name on your team sheet (after RVP leaves).

What's showing is nothing more than your out and out jealousy that we have such a class act in our squad, around whom (with the likes of Moddy and Parker) we are building a very strong team.

You cant really think bale is all that. Surely.

He has ability and bags of talent. But he is 1 dimensional and his ego is preventing him from doing the only thing he is good at. Charging down the wing and kicking the ball as hard as he can in the general direction of where your strikers could be.

I wouldnt want bale. Such a ponce now and doesnt even have the awesome skills to back it up like ronaldo has. Wouldnt touch him with a barge pole. I think most gooners are the same as me too.

I don't think it's all his fault. He seems to start every game in a different position nowadays. No,wonder he's getting confused. I think he's an exceptional talent. He's still very young, and still learning. But, I don't doubt his talent for one minute.
