I wouldn't worry. Pards isn't stupid. He tried Campbell as he was big and strong to handle the Stoke defence. It backfired spectacularly, so I'd be amazed if he ever played for us again (unless we were forced to use him).

Why didn't Steven Taylor play instead of Sol Campbell?

However Sol Campbell should not be blamed for the defeat as it it a team game and yes he lost Walters for the goal but we failed to stop the cross.

1st goal - failed to stop the cross, Campbell lost his man
2nd goal - Steve Harper error
3rd goal - should not have been a free kick and went in via lucky deflection
4th goal - Colo lost header and Wilo lost his man

 

Sounds like a calamity of errors, glad i have avoided MOTD.

He has had a great career, been a fantastic player, but this is a season too many! I dont think we will see him play again, unless there is a massive injury crisis! i can see a few changes for the Wolves match.

 

Aye, but you forget to mention that we almost had the ball away after Harpers mistake then ball was crossed in, and Campbell flicked it into the box for the goal as if he was on their team! Absolutely shocking.

Agree with the rest though, wasnt all Campbells fault, but he was pretty awful, Pardew got it wrong yesterday, we didnt need 5 at the back and if he HAD to why not Taylor? shocking.

 

Agreed, he was simply atrocious. At least something good come from the injuries in the form of young Shane Ferguson. I'm over the moon with his effort and he's shown some real ability. He's fast, skillfull and confident. Could have a star on our hands here, he reminds me of a young Damien Duff, but better!

 

That run he made from the corner flag was ****ing tremendous, if only he had laid it off to someone or scored from his shot

Was a brilliant run and effort! Looks a good player. Just hope he, Vuckic and co can fulfil potential.
I saw a clip of that this morning and got excited he might score... I know the final result, i know we didn't score. But i still jumped a little when he hit it!

Agreed, would like to see Vuckic get a run out providing we guarantee safety, Ferguson looks more like a winger than a defender though, looks much more confident going forward, looks a better crosser of the ball then Gutierrez aswell.

 

I was just behind the goal and it looked for the world as if it was going to go in. Not sure but I think I was up in the air cheering the goal that never was. Great effort though.
