If we are finally determined to improve the quality of the squad, and cope with injuries better - I say GO FOR IT.

I dont think that Wenger would pay 25 m for Goetze. But I would love to have Goetze in our squad.

Yes we do need players like Goetze to challenge for the league. With Man City having such a powerful squad, we need to improve ours to be able to compete. At the moment, we are not good enough and lack a real creative force in our midfield. Wilshere and Ramsey are still far from the finished article and Arteta and Rosicky are good but not special. We need more special players and Goetze would be one.

Would he really be available for £25M? He's one of the best young players in the world, and Dortmund don't need the money, so I would have assumed he would go for more than that. He would be a great buy though.

Its a bs story a daily mail "exlcusive" which basically means its total bs.

I dont think we would get him for 25m and I very much doubt we will get him at all. Wenger would spend 35m on him imo. But it wont happen so lets just ignore the story and not get our hopes up. Remember the last 2 summers? The papers link us with everyone because they have nothing else to write.

Totally agree, our budget range is around the 10m-20m max and that does not include the top talent. Wenger just does not find it prudent to pay a lot for players, it goes against his principles....

I think he would go the extra mile but lets be honest....as soon as we are close to a deal then goetze and dortmound will get bids from the chavs and £iteh. Then we wont get him. We have to get people before people on this forum realise they are good. Thats the reality. Get used to it. I just hope wenger has 2/3 sick players lined up that we have never heard of like Vieria

We'll get Hoilett, Podolski, Vertonghen and an unknown player who will be a star.

If Van Persie stays, I would consider that a very good summer.

I can't remember the last time Wenger pulled it out of the bag, they've been good but not special players. He's relying on our youth setup to produce something but apart from Chesney and Wilshere, we've not produced any top players. You live and hope but his current track record saying no, im afraid...

It's the Daily fail, so I did not bother to get my hopes up just like I do not get bothered when the Sunday times run BS stories about RVP.

A lot of negativity about our players. And stupidity.

RVP was crap before he wasnt.

The people who desscribe Walcott, Song, etc as crap are as dumb as the people who think Goetz is significantly better.

Of course we are not going to pay silly money for Goetz, and it makes good sense not to.

Honestly walcott isnt good enough and goetze would be a massive upgrade on his ability. I am fed up of walcott. Time for him to be shipped out. He is like bale. The ego took aver about 18 months ago and there is no hope for him now. He cant pass, is weak, poor touch and a bad final ball. 1 good game in 10 is not enough. Espicially when he is a passenger the rest of the time.

I think people on this forum get a little carried away with calling players like Song, Walcott etc crap. However, it's hard to judge how good our players are until they've left us. We make a lot of players look better than what they are as our system of play looks so good.

Goetze sounds like the real deal and we've had better midfield players just a few years ago than this current crop. Just a few years ago we had Fabs, Nasri and Hleb in midifeld, this easily overtakes our current midifeld by some margin. Goetze will be a very good addition!

Walcott isn't crap but is a good player, however he simply does not fit our current system. I have no idea what Wenger wants from the man. We play a technical passing and move game which Walcott struggles with. He has very average ball control and dribbling skills. He is trying to adjust on the right but he lacks the neccessary skillset to fully succeed. He uses his extreme pace and movement to mask his deficiencies, that's why he gets found out too often. With Gerv, OXO, Miyaichi and now POD, he will find himself pushed down the pecking order....

Agree. But all top sides play pass and move. Walcott isnt good enough for a top side. Thats it. Just like chamakh could be decent for a worse side but in our side his lack of technique is cruely exposed.
