Well there was me banging on to give Coates a chance, after Carra fugged it up big style against the arse.

Only for your Mr. Coates to give us a few squeaky bum moments on Saturday. The question is, do we revert back to experienced Carra, or stick with the future and live and die with that choice??

For me its the latter as in give Coates a run while Aggers injured. Just don't expect perfection straight away. Use Coates as cover for Agger and Carra as cover for Skrts (or Kelly).

Think we may as well give Coates games whilst we can. Fourth place looks well out of reach now so we may as well give some of our less experienced players some game time.

I'd stick Coates in the reserves to get games or send him out on loan to get match fitness.

Chucking him in the deep end isn't working yet. He needs some experience and a bit of confidence.

We might aswell stick with Coates now, we don't have much chance of top four so give the lad some experience, same with Sterling for me he is a better option than Downing or Henderson at right mid.

Coates without doubt, also Sterling and Shelvey should get a chance.

He was always going to make mistakes, the important thing is that he'll learn from them. He was still probably one of our better players yesterday, especially after looking shaky in the first half hour.

Coates didn't cost us a goal, and he's only going to get rid of the mistakes in games if he gets to play. He won't improve and adapt to the premier league by just sitting on the bench

If we never played Skrtel after everyone wanted him out then we wouldn't be watching the Skrtel we know today. Coates all the way, he didn't win young player of Copa America for no reason. Quite an achievement considering he is a defender.

I agree with most that it will serve Coates well to get some games in.

Coates all the way for the Premier league... Carra if we make the FA Cup final. (If necessary)

  16. Coates is young and inexperienced in this league, he will make a few errors just like Carragher, Agger and Skrtel all did when they first came into the first team. Hell, Skrtel has looked dodgy for three seasons prior to this one! Coates is the future, he should play when it is appropriate, ie when on of Agger or Skrtel are injured. Hopefully he can learn from the other three in training too.

Carragher could be an option for a defensive midfield role whilst Lucas is out injured. He reads the game well and is a good organiser, can't be worse than Charlie Adam in there and it would give others a bit more freedom to get forward. Plus, Carragher is capable of filling in at RB, LB and CB when one of the back four go forward or pick up a slight knock etc too.

Well that's everyone for Coates... apart from bow4fowler*, the feckless idiot! :)

I agree, but listening to the commentary for yesterday's game, they were talking of Carra being rested for Tuesday, if Coates plays, that will raise the eyebrows in the media. If we all get our way and Coates does get the nod, Carra best have a long hard think about what he wants to do, as this season will probably be his last as a regular 1st team player at Liverpool.

  18. I think the partnership formed between Skrtel and Agger as already confined Carragher to a back-up position, never mind whether Coates steps up or not. As I said above though, I'd be tempted to move Carragher forward a little as a DM whilst Lucas is out (just until the summer), this would let us also push Gerrard forward to a AM rle which hopefully would help us find more goals.
