Piss Bloody Poor - Again!

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by wishiwasinliverpool, Mar 10, 2012.

  1. And that was the worry of getting rid of Roy, would it set a new "acceptable" level for fans?

Personally, I think the Hodgson situation was very different to any other manager we have had. There was no sign of improvement and we was flirting with relegation at times too. People need to get their head out their arse and actually look back more than two or three games!

Feel sick just thinking about that time when we were 17th in the league and Woy's comments after games
Like mentioned above look further back then a few games. But at the same time does not change that we had a poor game yesterday It has been painful to watch us of late but then i think where we were then

  3. We've had more good performances than bad this season. A lot more.

****in' 'ell, this is why I didn't want Kenny as manager in the first place!<doh>

Because we ALL expected more and it's all going tits up! OK, the CC was nice. If we win the FA cup it will be nice - and yeah, it will be seen as a massive improvement and we HAVE been playing well - but you all know we aspire to the title and/or the CL. That part of it has to be seen as a failure. Maybe not the title this season but we haven't even been in ****in' contention!

    Look what happens at Chelsea!

People have short memories. If wheels come off completely and Kenny gets the heave-ho all people will remember will be the failures not the successes. Not all fans can remember when Kenny was a player and his first stint in charge of us in the 90s. I didn't want any of this negativity against him but that's all we're hearing now.

We're on course to get 55 points this season and if we keep up our current form it could be even worse than that. No matter what anyone says about this being a transitional season that would still be a very poor return. We were probably aiming for between 65 and 70 points at the start of the season.

Kenny does deserve a chance to turn it around next season though. There have been very few games where we've got more than we deserved and a lot where we could be considered unlucky. If you take games like Arsenal, Norwich and Stoke (away) in isolation then you'd be mad not to think of us as unlucky, it's when it keeps happening that you have to question our finishing ability. That doesn't stop a few of those games being simply unlucky though.

Kenny's been too loyal to some of his signings, particularly Adam. This isn't usually a bad thing but when Adam and, to a lesser extent, Downing are playing poor and don't look like getting any better then it becomes a worry. Hopefully a better summer in the transfer window can help that, if we sign genuinely talented players in the summer then sticking with them through their rough patches should be a decision that pays off.

His tactics have been a mixed bag this season. Against most of the top teams he has out thought his opposition manager, especially all of his games against Chelsea and Arsenal. The Arteta injury actually helped Arsenal last week and gave them more control in midfield. Without that we may have continued the second half as we finished the first. The only top team he doesn't seem to have sussed out is Spurs. Against the mid-table and lower clubs we don't seem to have a particular tactic to break them down, sometimes it seems to look like we just give the ball to Suarez and hope for the best. This has to improve as those clubs will take a lot of time to prepare for the game against us and we don't seem to treat them with enough respect. You can blame the players all you like for not showing up for these games but this has to start with the management.

This summer could make or break Kenny's spell as manager. A couple of good signings and we're back on track. More of the same from last summer and it could be his last season. I'm sure the new owners would have been happy with slow and steady progress but they'll step in if our league form continues to decline.

We've had a bad run, it happens!

wishi I agree entirely about Adam, he is getting worse instead of better! Jelavic was gagging to come to us and seemingly we passed up on him and Everton signed him, debut goal and that puts them 2 points behind us. I will be trying not to watch him from now on - like I did with Torres <whistle>

We desperately need a striker in the summer and/or get the youngsters more involved.
