One thing that was evident today was how much we miss Ali Faurlin. How many times did Diakite win the ball and then run like a headless chicken until he lost or wasted it? Ali would always pick the right ball, often a simple short pass and then move to receive it again and initiate an attack. Sometimes he would pick a 30 yard 'killer' pass but usually it would be the right pass into the right area at the right time. His position in the team often meant a lot of this 'simple' work went un-noticed. Sadly, as we have discovered to our cost, this simplicity is now so sorely missed. I really hope if we do go down he'll stay with us, but you couldn't deny him if a dream move came his way...
So many things cost us: No pre-season Rushed signings Poor decisions - today and SWPs goal that should have been Faurlin Warnock's tactics Taarabt being on mental holiday for first half of season Cisse Red Sacking Warnock Taking ages for Hughes to find best team Barton taking free kicks instead of Taarabt, Buzz or just about anybody. The depressing list goes on. The dream dies today for me.I cannot find it myself to be positive or hopeful about staying up at all. My hope now is that next year is managed well and we are given a chance of coming straight back up. I cannot say, 'like Newcastle' because it would be an insult to Newcastle to compare this team with theirs that stormed the Championship two years ago. Tony, time to really put your money where your mouth is.
I think Tony already has, funding the signings of Zamora and Cisse. Unfortunatley Cisse got himself sent off and every ref seems to hate us. Not Tony's fault at all. The players must take the blame for this, and to a small part Hughes whos tactics havent helped one bit.
completely agree the team revolves around Faurlin The only thing Warnock did wrong was play his best player in the FA cup He had played almost eveyy minute of every game Ferguson would have left it to the other 10 on the pitch, thrown in a reserve and given him a much needed rest Easy with hindsight i know but if ...... we'd be top 6?
Funny,I dont remember winning to many games before he was injured,or am I missing something. What exactly would he bring to the team now that we havent already got ??
He was a big part of our good start to the season. Many of the games we lost in Nov/Dec were when the team was playing top sides and the rot set in. Hughes hasn't had Faurlin available since adding the new signings so we'll never know but I'm sure with Ali in the team we wouldn't be where we are now...
I must admit I totally under-estimated Faurlin's contribution. I appreciate his passing and link play a lot more when I see others who can't seem to find a team-mate.
One of many factors as listed by RTID. For the first time this season I am resigned to relegation. I've never felt so down and needless to say very disappointed MH couldn't turn it around. He owes it to the fans to get us back up next season. At the end of the day, we don't deserve to be in this league. Poor home form, picking up only 7 of 24 pts from our rivals, lack of goals etc. These are the reasons teams get relegated. There is every chance we could finish dead last and I never ever expected that.
That's not a fair assessment then...... because Hughes was also practically out of the Cups by the time he took over this team, and since then, he's had no mid-week matches at all, which meant his players were fresh as daisies every week. Which is how we came up to the Prem last season when we also were able to keep our players fresh without worrying about the Cups. But yes we missed Faurlin and an equal in the middle.
I really fail to understand how some people still can't see how vital Faurlin is to us. He is a class above the rest of our midfield, a real Premiership quality player. When we played Man City at home I thought he was the best player out of the 22 on the pitch! There is a indeed a huge list of contributing factors to our downfall. But for me there are two specific moments that stand out. One being the injury to Faurlin and the other Cisse grabbing Johnson by the neck.
Warnock said last week that Ali was the best player he'd ever managed and that he built the team from him
I agree with your list totally but not the sentiments after. Until we're officially, mathematically relegated why not keep going and watching and supporting for the win and for survival of the drop?
SORRY, but is it me?....i cant see how anyone in the entire workld can doubt Faurlins worth and contribution....... We only won the league last year because Faurs and Dery allowed Tarbs to play like he did...they supplied him, covered him and directed him....anyone who cant see that needs thier eyes testing.... ALL top teams have a creative midfielder ( Faurs) and a worker ( Derry, platt esque)......they dictate the game and basically give the ball toi the best player (Adel)... To question Faurs impact on our season, is not only foolish, but shows a massive lack of understanding the way the game is played I stil think we'd be down there, but with a lot more hope and belief!! IMHO

not just you queenslander, the vast majority of us on here and even many non-QPR fans understand what a good player Faurlin is - just a couple of idiots on here that have had their eyes closed for the best part of three years.
