Yes being a paying subscription <ok>

With the season about to start and a winter of discontent / excitement its time for a new poll. Will you watch F1 on Sky?

    Previous poll (approx)

    No: 75%
    Yes: 20%
    Maybe: 5%

    Voting thread only... NO comments

This is purely a voting thread to see how opinions have changed over winter. Your (obviously) all still welcome to discuss thoughts on the long standing Sky/BBC thread.

    I'm going to comment anyway.

For a vote and no discussion type thread, the voting really should be public, to help gauge how reflective the results are of this forum.

I don't see how this differs much from the other poll. As you've mentioned the results of the other poll couldn't you just replace the old one with this one?

I was interested in if opinions have changed, and I didn't think you could change the old poll, if you can...oops.

As for keeping it a secret vote I just didn't want anyone to feel overtly judged, we can still discuss it on t'other thread.

Even if you can you wouldn't want to. That poll represents opinion when the news came out, this one reflects how opinion has changed. This one by itself is meaningless.

It was North North Watford's fault. He made us do it.

Does it count as a "yes" if I'm watching it on Channel Ten (Aussie channel) but will most likely get sky coverage even though it's free?

    Why?

Surely it is a matter for debate; otherwise why would we have a thread on it? People should be able to explain why they hold a certain opinion, if they hold one at all.

Can you change my vote, I voted Yes by accident, when I meant No.

I think the no comments thing (which, yes, I'm now breaking!) was simply because another poll couldn't be added to the main Sky thread. The idea being to keep all comments about Sky coverage on the single thread, just with the poll separate.

I understand what you're saying DHC, but obviously this is a complete failure. Why, for instance, should another poll not be relevant? If it is - and I personally believe this is the case - why should people be dissuaded from explaining their thoughts? Surely that is what a forum is about?

Voting is something that can occur at any time. Likewise, so is a discussion based upon any opinion (voting), regardless of when it occurs.

That's not strictly true because you have no idea when those votes were cast. You know when the poll was created but it was never closed, some of those votes were probably in the last couple of weeks as activity on here has picked up again.

You're splitting hairs a bit. The great bulk of the votes on the old poll have been there for ages though it's possible there may have been a couple added recently. In any event, this poll shouldn't replace the older one, as you suggested, because then you're just wiping out a point that was made with that thread. I can appreciate a general argument against running a poll again but when you're not concerned about structuring the F1 Forum or posting off-topic threads then what does it matter? I think there will be a number of people like Manny who voted one way last year but, having seen what Sky is offering, might vote differently now.

It is a pity the original poll wasn't closed, preferably before Sky launched, but hindsight's a wonderful thing. If people aren't interested they won't vote and if we don't keep commenting then this thread will wend its weary way down to page 2, so what's the problem? It's just something a couple of us were interested in seeing. If it's that much of a concern, delete this thread and set up a new poll asking if people have changed their minds since voting 'no' other thread.

I am really enjoying the content they have put up so far.

2 seasons reviews each day until the Aus GP, other tit bits inbetween (i don't mean Georgie Thompson), looks good so far.

See if they can keep this up through the year.

I do respect the idea of a plain vote with no discussion. This subject has undoubtedly been discussed to death, and I see the value in having a fresh poll.

I just don't think an anonymous vote can claim to be representative, given how easy it is to create an account.
