I am bitterly disappointed with the shocking refereeing, the appallingly bad luck we've had especially today and walking away form the ground yet again with absolutely nothing to show for it and a bunch of fickle home fans mocking us in their thousands when they finally found their voices after 87 minutes.

The tactics were poor and once again we were badly let down. What is the point of setting up your stall for a 'must win' game with a 'must not lose' team selection of 3 defensive midfielders. However, for me, Barton played one of his better games and doesn't deserve some of the vitriol spewed forth on this forum. For those who ask, all too frequently what does Taarabt offer, the answer is blindingly obvious when we have to play without him.

Today we hovered between the "lump it up as quickly as possible" approach(aka "as route1") and the slow methodical buildup which fizzles out because nobody apart from Taarabt in our team has the vision to play the telling through pass.

A few weeks ago I was criticised by some for venturing the opinion that it would be very difficult for us as the last 8 games were the ones where we need to put as many points on the board. Well we beat Wigan and got a couple of draws as well. We also lost to Wolves, Blackburn and Bolton.

That was why I suggested that we should build for the future and not simply for a desperate last stand in a battle to stay up this season.
Do any of the eternal optimists who feel that it is sacrilegious even to contemplate life outside the PL have any better ideas?

I just think we all need to take a look at ourselves and our club. It would have been no bad thing if we went down playing with more or less the team that took us up. They would have had another year to work together and improve. We would undoubtedly have bounced back next year.

At the start of this season with those morons in control of our club, did anyone really think we were going to find it easy to survive? Did anyone really think that we stood any chance at all? No I did not think so. So by the end of this season once we have gone down, what have we actually lost apart from the money that has been unwisely spent? We'll be back where we were last May filled with optimism that we will do better next time.

Mark Hughes has to stay. If he goes it must be his choice. In that case, he walks away without a penny. We made a mistake in sacking Warnock. Let's not repeat the mistake. It will come good at some point. Let's not repeat the errors of the Chris Wright regime.

Sorry guys. I'd love to say "It's not over until it is mathematically impossible." But I disagree. Time to build. You know it makes sense.

So what are you actually suggesting the team does for the next ten games? Not compete in case it spoils your master plan of relegation? Really don't see what you are getting at, or why it merited a thread of its own.

A very well written post, but for me, the 'doom and gloom' comes from the fact that it has taken us 15 long hard years to finally get back to the PL, and we give up our chance without much of a fight.

The season has been awful with mistake after mistake, and it is gutting to see all the hard work put in not only in the last year from Warnock, but from the likes of Holloway to get us back to this stage go to waste.

Last season was brilliant, and it was sweet, knowing how much effort had been put into getting us up. To see our season fading away is just gut wrenching.

Don't be silly. We keep battling away and we keep supporting. But at ther end, if it all ends tits up we move on, get it out of our systems, learn the lessons and regroup. My masterplan remains as before. To support my team by attending as many games as I can and sininging my heart out. What's yours? Do you have a plan B or will you be looking for the exit door or the nearest gas oven? It's really not that bad. There is life after relegation.

The point which most readers will have spotted quite easily is to stay positive. "Always look on the bright side of life." Olly learned that lesson last year. Our owners lost the plot and so, I believe are all those who are posting that:

1 It's all crap. Sack the players, sack the manager , sack the owners; or
2 Cheer up. We'll be fine. At least until relegation is a mathematical certainty.

My alternative take is "Let's give it a bloody good go but keep your feet on the ground. If it works great. Escaping relegation on the final day of the season will mean we can all go on the mother of all benders. If not, never mind, there's always next season."

We have lost to Bolton, Blackburn and Wolves at home in recent weeks. I suppose it is time to wake up and face reality. We are simply not good enough. Simple facts are that we have conceaded way to many soft goals and can't score enouh at the other end. I know we have had terrible bad luck in some games this season but i am starting to admit to myself that we just are not good enough. Of course it's still possible to stay up and i hope the team does not go down without an almighty fight, but recent results must have knocked the stuffing out of the team. Confidence can't be high at the moment.

Judo, I agree 100%. Surely you can see therefore that the way forward is to make sure we don't repeat those mistakes either next season or in the future.

Wow, are you this patronizing to your clients Legal Eagle? For your info I am still really enjoying this season, believing that we will stay up, and if we don't it won't change anything about my support (just as the previous 4 relegations I have experienced as a supporter haven't) nor will it make me suicidal. Also I won't jump to silly assumptions about people I dont know, but then again I haven't had the training you have....

I can't say I have enjoyed this season. Real anti-climax, kinda sad even.

I won't pretend it's all been beer and skittles Ciarrai, in fact I haven't played skittles at all. But I have seen some great players, seen my team play some good football ( not often enough) and got to a few grounds I haven't seen for 15 years. Also I know we have really good owners who are going to take the club forward, whatever league we are in next year. My expectations last August were instant and humiliating relegation, and they seemed to be confirmed with that 4-0 loss at home to Bolton. But despite massive change and disruption and virtually no proper preparation we are still in the hunt. In fact the only really bad thing about this season has been how well the yellow and green flying vermin have done.

    I have mixed feelings here.

To be honest I didn't ever expect to see QPR back in the Premier League so from that point of view every match has been a bonus. However, since we finally won promotion, it has been an anticlimax.

Curiously I am still optimistic. I expect us to be relegated, but with our owners I do expect us to be back, and to be back both stronger and better prepared. It may not be next season, but I think it will.

Life as an "R" has never been easy, so let's not expect that to change. We do take a certain amount of comfort in chaos, so let's just embrace the rest of the season and whatever it holds.

So what exactly was the point of your rant in the first place? We're all entitled to our opinions. Just because you did not understand or disagreed with mine in the first place there was no need for your initial response. Judging by your last comments, we do in fact seem to share similar views but have seen things froma slightly different perspective. Perhaps your constant references to "Legal Eagle" tell a story in themselves. If so, get a life.
