They are both well past when they should have been dropped. It really does seem that they are undropable.

Its crazy seeing that we have Mackie and Buzz sitting on the bench while these two prance around making mistake after mistake. I can accept mistakes if players are doing their best - like Mackie, Hill, Derry, Buzz.

But we still lost the game. Has he or Barton helped us win a single game?

Hes on 60k, Barton is on 80k and theyve done **** all all season and thats disgusting. Mackie has outdone them both.

I can see us canceling both contracts if and when it's confirmed that we're down. I think that Tony's ruthless enough to know that they aren't good enough, and no-one'll want them.

    This

I don’t like joining in with the general slagging off, but this is exactly what I thought at the time.
At the end of the match there was a close up on Barton’s face. It was hard to decide exactly what he was thinking but I don’t think it was “Where will I be playing next year?”. He did look disappointed, or maybe just confused.

You think hes going to pay up the £5+m left on their contracts. Hopefully they wont want to play in the NPC and will leave even if they have to accept a lower contract.

Perhaps he didn't keep up with Klasnic because he was too knackered covering for Derry most of the afternoon. People on here love to pick up on every error Barton makes and I agree that he has been disappointing for us all year. But he is easy to pick on because he is so visible, in my view he hasn't hidden and I'd bet once again he has covered more ground than anyone else today. But it really doesn't matter what I write because he could score six and create another ten, while making every tackle and most of the crowd followers on here would still slag him off, because it has now gone beyond opinion into blind prejudice.

Can't argue with any of hat SB73. People here with blind prejudices and blind allegiances.
If we go down we will have a board behind the club intent on getting back with an improved team. All I know is I'll be right behind my club.

Covering ground means nothing if it isnt doing anything. Barton offers nothing to the side and as the stats flyer has just posted shows, he gives the ball away 40% of the time.

    Captain material? I think not.

Ian Wright said that son Shaun just needed a decent run of games to find his form again.By the time that happens he will be retired.

SWP also said he had ambitions of going to the Euro's.

Didnt think he meant going to watch the Eurovision song contest...

Judo, I'm not defending what he has delivered. Though he tries much more ambitious passes than the others on that list - and fails consistently which is very frustrating - so is likely to fail more. What I am saying is the hatred of him is now so all encompassing that it really doesn't matter what he does on the pitch. If he is dropped, or some of our fellow posters get their hands on him and disembowel him prior to public hanging, it ain't going to guarantee better results on the pitch.
As SW so rightly says, the club goes on, at last with top rate owners....

When he lives up to his own beliefs that he should be playing for England, ill stop slagging him off.

Ive not proven anything, its not very harsh to expect a player to live up to his own boasting, is it?

Sb73 i don't think its just a blind biased hatred of him that frustrates people, its his performances that lead to the criticism just like people jumping on Hulses back for example. If he were to play well then im sure we would say as much but he doesn't and hasn't been playing well. in my opinion players should be picked on form, SWP and Barton are the two main players under performing hence the constant criticism! Is there any chance that there is something in their contracts that they take a wage drop if we are relegated?

But have they been playing worse than anyone else?

Most of our opinions are influenced by the money that we believe that they get paid. Neither Barton nor SWP have really been our worst players, but because of their salaries we have expected too much. Their salaries are due to them having a good agent, nothing else. Just because Barton gets paid 4 times as much as Derry (there is no substance to these figures), it doesn’t making him 4 times as good.

My reasons for not wanting Barton at my club are both well documented on this forum, and nothing to do with his performance on the pitch. SWP has been disappointing but so had most of his career. We signed both of these players right at the end of the August transfer window when only damaged goods were available. We gambled and lost. Forget their salaries, would we really have been better placed without them?
