For me I would much rather Helguson partners Cisse.

Zamora for me hasnt really done much. He does manage to hold the ball up ok, but often he brings it down but his control means the ball just runs away from him. That happened alot today.

He doesnt win enough headers for my liking.

Helguson has the amazing knack of hanging in the air to win headers, and holds the ball up much better. Him and Cisse could work very well together. Even when we go to long ball, playing Helguson would ensure that it works. Rather than hitting it to Zamora, to see it bounce off his chest to a defender.

Hes so lazy, I forgot he was playing. I like the look of Cisse but not Zamora. Fulham made mugs of us with their forward deals.

Not fair to compare Helguson who's been our player of the year and big performer in our promotion season with Zamora who's come in when we are at our most ****iest and not getting the results. Didn't watch todays game but think Zamora's been well good in his previous games.

I agree its a bit unfair to compare after Zamora has only played 4 games. But as it stands, if HH was fit he would be playing. Zamora hasnt doen enough to warrant being ahead of him.

That I agree with. But his transfer fee and wages picks him, even when HH is back.

That is also what I feel has contributed to our downfall. Hughes not having the bottle to drop Kenny, SWP, and Barton.

Unfortunately that's the cold hard truth. In some sick way it's the only way to represent value for the money spent on wages and fees, when in fact playing the right players could bring a much larger windfall come the end of the season with our prem place secured. Catch 22 if you like.

Sadly thats true, obscene wages and the pressure to pick those player have done us. That and kenny failing to make a save in the last 3 months.

Flyer I am confused as to who you would play given the choice. HH I guess. On various threads I have seen you recommend getting rid of most of the remnants of last years squad. Elsewhere you have slagged off most if not all of the new acquisitions, as well as Hughes. So who is definitively in and who is out of the Flying club?

    1.Patrick Kenny - Go
    2.Samba Diakite - Wont sign
    3.Clint Hill - Go
    4.Shaun Derry - Go
    5.Fitz Hall - Go
    6.Daniel Gabbidon - Go
    7.Adel Taarabt - stay
    9.DJ Campbell- stay
    10.Jay Bothroyd - stay
    11.Alejandro Faurlin - stay
    12.Jamie Mackie - stay
    13.Armand Traore - stay
    14.Akos Buzsaky - stay
    17.Joey Barton - Go
    18.Luke Young - stay
    20.Rob Hulse - go
    21.Tommy Smith - go
    22.Heidar Helguson - stay
    23.Djibril Cisse - stay
24.Radek Cerny - stay if he doesnt retire
    26.Brian Murphy - go
    32.Shaun Wright-Phillips - go
    34.Taye Taiwo - Wont sign
    35.Anton Ferdinand - stay
    42.Nedum Onuoha - stay
    52.Bobby Zamora - go
    Hogan - go

Wed need some signings but wed have to go for ones like Rhodes who would fit in rather than billy big bollocks like Barton.

My view on these players who you said should go:

3.Clint Hill - Go - deserves at least another year, and if we are in the NPC even more so.
4.Shaun Derry - as above if we are in the NPC.
10.Jay Bothroyd - stay - I will drive him to his next club.
21.Tommy Smith - go - He is a much better player than he is given credit for.
52.Bobby Zamora - go - Need more time to judge

Hill, maybe but only as a CB
No for sure to Derry, time has caught up with him
He did well last time in the NPC but wouldnt be bothered if he left
Smith, ok as a player but getting on
Zamora, I think hed do well but dont think he is the type to stay around.

From that your ideal team from the current squad would be Cerny, Young, Ferdinand, Onuoha, Traore, Taarabt, (Faurlin), Mackie, Buz, Betty/HH, Cisse. Who would you put from in for Faurlin from the current squad given he is out for the season?

have to agree with most of Flyers choices except

Zamo - much better player than he gets credit for...he's sored more than tarbs in only 4 matches !
Smith- will be good in the championship
Clint Hill - been the only player to actually earn his place this season

I think the more pressing issue is...who will we have as our manager...big sam will be sacked soon wont he?!

I think you underrate Zamora. I'm a big fan of Helguson and we could debate who is better. I would probably choose HH because I like him but Zamora does have quality and could always have a moment of brilliance because he can finish well.
Yesterday, he did get up for the ball well a number of times and he's a player I have confidence in when the ball is whacked up field.

Amazing to see the stick Zamora gets. His interplay was good yesterday, creating chances for/with others. When he does get his own opportunities, at least he is on target (higher % cance of scoring). Zamora/Cisse partnership will grow and grow. This is where the goals are coming from.
SWP? Barn doors and banjos spring to mind. He MUST be dropped and Tarbs drafted into that midfield.

Have to agree with Queenslander, awjm and SW Ranger - can't believe the stick that's being given to Zamora here! He's scored 2 in 4 for god's sake, a massive step up on many of our attacking players, and instead of just heading the ball on like Helguson does, Zamora actually brings it down and tries to play it on the floor. Have some people forgotten that only yesterday he came so close to getting our opener with that shot that crashed off the bar from a seemingly impossible angle? And even though that didn't go in I thought he had another good game for us. SW Ranger's post sums it up for me - great interplay, created chances, has a better goals/game ratio than so many of our other strikers - Cisse and Zamora up front together is 100% our starting attacking option.

Zamora and Cisse are beginning to click as a pair and there was some good interplay between them yesterday. If they're fit they have to start, any more chopping and changing will be a step backwards. If they're gonna get the goals to keep us up continuity will be essential...
