The Manager - What to do??

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by Sharpe*, Mar 10, 2012.

  1. Not saying that at all, of course he is involved, but ultimately the responsibility of finding players falls to Comolli and his scouting system. I am pretty sure the scouting system wasn't used extensively to find too many of the eight signings so far though, maybe Coates and Henderson but the others were big signings that were already well known and establishe din the English game. Carroll was a panic buy IMO.

There is no evidence to suggest that is the case though!

  4. Other than interviews and comments by Kenny, Comolli, Henry, Ayre, etc...?

I haven't seen them to be fair, nor would I 100% believe Kenny would of come out of retirement not to be able to be heavily influenced in transfers.

  6. As I said, he has the final say so if he is not happy with a player Comolli is keen on then we don't sign them. The comments/interviews etc were on the LFC website when Comolli first came on board.

So you are saying he was happy with Carroll, Adam and Downing then?

  8. Must have been. I did say higher up that I think Carroll was a panic buy by the club because they fault they needed to replace Torres. In hindsight, we should have saved the money considering Carroll hardly played in that season anyway.

I also said three bad signings out of eight is not too bad a record either. It is the combined cost of £60m+ that causes concern.

I know mate. I'm not a militant fan. I just want whats best for the club, and think sentiment doing things traditionally is part of the reason why we havent won the league in so long.

I agree Carroll was a panic buy and i'm not excusing Cosmollie - I don't agree with his position to be honest.

But i'm neither excusing everyone else just because of their history (not saying you are, mind).

We spent what £90 odd million on players. The good ones have cost us next to nothing!

That is a lot of money. You have to money our owners aren't in it for the fun of it.

  10. I think that is the bit that is most annoying. Enrique is the signing of the season for Liverpool, got to be up there for the league too. Suarez was a good signing too. Coates is young so could prove to be a great signing but, if he doesn't make it, it won't be a massive loss. Doni was never going to be in the first team anyway. Henderson reminds me of when Lucas arrived (playing an unfamiliar position but has the engine and work ethic to succeed. Given time he will come good IMO).

Downing and Adam are not going to get any better but are both better than how they have been performing for us, will they find their form? At present it looks like we should get rid but with it being their first season, should they be given more time to settle? Who knows? That's a judgement call by the management team I guess.

I can honestly say I am at a loss with Carroll. He is young and proved at Newcastle he can be effective but can he do it for Liverpool? For him to succeed, we need to play to his strengths, we need to put the ball inbetween the defenders and keeper early and at height for him to attack it, but he also needs to be in the box to attack it. The players crossing the ball need to stop trying to get as close to the box before crossing, they also need to stop thinking they have to beat a man before crossing it. As for Carroll, he needs to put more effort in, he needs to close opposition players down, especially when they are jut five yards away from him! He is on a twelve month diet plan (about four months in now?) so lets give him time but we need to get someone else in to play up top and give him more competition for a first team spot.

I don't care who was responsible for the signings, we now haw a squad where we did have a mess. As I said earlier 2 or maybe three quality signings in the summer changes everything. Kenny Dalglish deserves our respect and our patience.

Agree with the OP. Kenny was always a stop-gap. Hes just not cutting it and should be released end of the season. Dont know why some are even defending him, the results speak for themselves.

Boring reading your forum tbh. You all piss and moan when you lose. You are saying if we do this or that we can win. Fact is your players are awful. Hence why you lose quite alot. Nothing really to debate tbh <ok>

Then why do you continue to post on our section?

If you don't like what we talk about and find our forum 'boring', don't come on to our section and post.

    It's as simple as that.

Clam down pal. I understsand your frustration and am not here to wum. You will never get such a good opportunity to get back in the champions league. A massive outlay on players, no injuries and chelsea, us and spuds all having injuries and various other problems.

If you lads really think chavski wont improve next year and that we wont surge on after a summer of investment (now the stadium is paid off and our terrible sponsorships are 1 year closer to renewal) then you are all crazy. This was your year. You had to make the top 4 and it was there for the taking. Espicially with your lack of injuries and all the injuries we have had.

Top 4 for the forseeable future (after this year) will be us, manure, £ity and chavs. Its obvious. You had your chance this year and you blew it. At least the spuds have given it a go and might be a force in years to come if they can make the cl this year.

Your senile as well as thick then?

We had this bs from you the other day.

Arsenal are'nt and never will be good enough to win the CL and finishing 1st,2nd,3rd or 4th wont change that.
