Very pleased with that result and for once it didn't look like we would throw it away in the last minute! I only managed to see the 2nd half thanks to a terrible stream, but it sounds like I didn't miss much anyway. Very pleased with the discipline and commitment shown- Bridge slotted in nicely to the defence which was solid as usual. Such a shame we couldn't have held out against the Mags last week, though it is still very satisfying to be on the winning side against the likes of Bellamy, Suarez and Carroll, who surely must be among the most contemptable strikeforces in Premiership history. Also nice to see Henderson get a good reception from the fans, I hope he plays better than that in the future though or Liverpool might be trying to sell him back to us!
Bridge had a bit of a mare in the 1st half and gave the ball away softly all game, but he's also attack minded. Henderson had a shocker. motm for me was Gardner
Good result lads. Also a good result for Newcastle considering we will probably get a hiding on Monday.
He looked alright from what I could see but the link did occasionally skip twenty seconds every so often. I prefer Ricco at LB but it's nice to have some decent cover in a position which has been a problem for us for years. I agree Gardner was excellent, never gave them any time on the ball and always kept it tidy and simple, very good footballer.
We probably just about edged it in the first half (if you get the chance to see the game again), we looked like a very good team in the first 30 minutes or so
good solid win today especially with 3 of the lads who have played a huge part since MoN came in missing in Richardson, Sessegnon and Cattermole. got abit fortunate with how the ball fell to Bendtner for the goal but who cares your luck comes and goes. Its the big one next week and hopefully Everton's game 2night and there game on tuesday against Liverpool gives us the advantage going into next saturdays FA Cup tie Hope Bendtner is alright and Vaughan has to start, looked really good when he came on
I'll probably have to content myself with Match of the Day unfortunately, who I'm sure will spend the entire aftermath of the game discussing Liverpool's troubles, and perhaps give us a dismissive 'well played' if we're lucky. Glad to hear we played well in the first half though. Shame we couldn't have threatened them more, but I suppose without Sess we were always going to be a bit limited going forward. Still, today's result shows that we can still score goals without Sess and compete in midfield without Catts, so losing them is hardly the crippling blow the media were making it out to be. The Liverpool fans on the Matchday thread were all so upset that we were booing Suarez, can't believe they won't acknowledge what an odious little rat he is, even if he is a class player.
Agree on Vaughan looking good when he came on but I thought Gardner and Colback both had decent games so who do you drop?? I would maybe go Vaughan and Gardner if I had to make the decision. Having said that if Bendtner is injured go all 3 with Campbell up top on his own.
Liverpool were allowed to elbow and jump into our players, yet Mclean makes a tackle and the ref takes the ****. It has started again i tell you we are being done again, but great performance and lets hope we end that jinx next week!.
king keeny is spouting crap again... "they were no better then us" "winds are a factor" they got lucky" ect
Can't stand Liverpool, can't stand their manager, can't stand their players. Kuyt though, man i wish we had him!
The team seems to know how to play out a game now. A lot of young lads gaining experience so who knows what they will do next season, It just gets better and better at the minute.
Good result that, fair play. As predicted a heard Hnenderson was poor-as he has been every game ive seen him play this season- cant believe kenny everet has not been challenged about his 2 big signings looking very average. Anyway a good win for a transformed team. Mrs Doubtfire has probably exploded into a pile of pink **** by now surely.
