Crossroads for Kenny

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by Noblelox, Mar 9, 2012.

  1. I never expected us to get fourth this season but did have a glimmer of hope which as now gone. I wasn't angry with the loss to Arsenal, I was obviously disappointed but I took pride in our performance. I would have been had it been a team we are expected to beat but Arsenal are a good side.

i've been far more angry after bad, listless lazy performances and BOLTON quote below shows kenny did take dcisive action.

I've had arguments with guys about subs v arsneal but the point remians the team outplayed and continued to outplay arsenal all over the park so no actual sub was required... i mean carroll would only head it over the bar TBH... we should have scored, downing could have given suarez an open goal but didn't... lots of things could happen but i'm just laughing at my mate who's still bloody on about hat trick rodriguez coming on when i can't wait to see sterling take his squad place.

I'm not saying that Kenny should be sacked on Saturday night, if he doesn't do something drastic. I just think a message has to be sent, and something new has to be instigated, even in a very small way. Sterling on the bench would be a great step, we don't even have to use him, it just makes a statement of intent.

As an example, look at spurs. Nothing has been said, but the team all think that 'arry is off to manage England in the closed season, and they appear to have hit the self-destruct. Unless 'arry comes out and says 100% he is not going to manage England, and he will be at WHL next season, I don't think the team will recover.

At Liverpool, we are just not getting goals, and from players that should be well able to net dozens. So what is to be done? Tell the team that if they keep on doing what they are doing, it will come good. Or does the manager send out a signal to the team that he is the boss, by doing something different? Sterling would put a rocket under Downing, axing Carra would send a very clear message to the whole team, not even having Carroll on the bench, dropping Adam, telling Hendo that unless he has 5 attempts on goal, he'll be playing in the reserves next week, anything will do, but he has to send a clear message to the squad, that he is the boss, and he is going to make this team work, at whatever cost.

If he does nothing, I don't want his head, but the sharks will smell blood and start to circle. That's my concern.

  5. Still thinking the same...? <laugh>

PS - I am guessing this comment was aimed at the selection of Coates instead of Carragher to which I agree <ok>

I was feeling like noblelox yesterday. And even more so today. He is a legend but I sometimes think the club could bein difficulty because of that. No one dares to question him even when there might be other options. The signings have not yet turned up to be successful yet. Hope they do but did anyone question the spending at the time? We'll never know. And the Suarez thing. Did anyone say 'Kenny may be we should deal with this this way' ?

He has been out of the game for a longtime. Would you expect to be on top ofyourjob if you had been out of it for the same number of years?

  7. I have faith in Kenny. I am not saying that because he is a club legend, if he was doing things that were totally wrong or out of order then I would criticise. I think we have been playing good football, we have dominated a lot of games and just lack that cutting edge. If it was a fullback or centre back we was missing rather than a poacher and we was winning 3-2 or 4-3 every week no one would complain. The hardest part of football is scoring a goal yet we are near the top of the league in terms of chances created.

On top of that, we are Liverpool Football club and we give managers a chance to get things right so long as there are signs of improvement/promise in the performances.
