Robin van persie, yaya toure, schweinstieger (sp?), Ibra and vidic for me! Vidic is the best defender in the world
Defenders being too slow is a myth, players like vidic's pace is only exposed when his defence and midfield fail to help him, he is incredibly adept at positioning meaning his pace is rarely needed or used. His heading is unparalleled rarely is he beaten even by the big strong strikers. His tackling is exquisite both standing and sliding. However I can't really argue against the injury prone aside from the fact its not his fault and the defenders role is to stop goals no matter what and are usually going in or being hit hard all game. Sorry I have a proper proper love of vidic!
I was to a lover of Vidic, but to me he is a shadow of his former self. The injuries have taken it's toll I'm afraid.
Muniain will be one of the best in the world, but I think he just needs a little more polishing up. If anything, I expected more from him against United, but he did look lively.
Those who think Rooney is overrated are unfortunately blinded by their hatred of Manure. Whilst outside of football he may be an idiot and defnitely not the cleverest individual he is a class player playing in what at present is quite a poor transitional ManU side. Those who let the personality influence their opinion are as bad as those who refuse to admit they like a song just because they don't like the band. I remember one chap in the pub saying Oasis' music was garbage because they were arrogant gobsh**es. No problem with people not liking Oasis' music but not because the people in the band are fools. Same with Rooney. Hate the person, can't really fault the quality of the player. Van Persie is pushing Messi for No1 at the mo. Ronaldo will never challenge for best player in the world IMO unless he stops cheating. The best player in the world would not need to dive, feign injury, harang refs et al numerous times per match. Others do the odd dive,, even Messi but Ronaldo scores most of his goals from being selfish. Rave on about the number of goals he scores then work out goals per percentage of shots (many from 40 yards). It will be poor and I dare say for 20 of his goals a season Real (and ManU when he was there) could have scored twice that had he not been so ball greedy and wasteful Who said Tiago Silva? Di they not watch the game against Arsenal the other night? He is decidely average. My best non Real/Barca: 1 - Robin Van persie - Quite simply the most in form player in the world at the mo IMO (and that includes Messi who isn't doingto badly either. lol) 2 - Rooney - He is the driving force of one of the largest sides in the world, phenomenal work rate, having to do much more midfield stuff whilst Man U are in transition. He is having to 'fetch' the ball from midfield at the moment. 3 - Gareth Bale - Showed against England and in Europe last year just how good a player he is. Single handedly had to try and beat England as Wales are not even close to England teamwise (and that is saying something when the England team is struggling) He is a modern day MLT. Ronaldo would not be able to make that kdifference to the Wales team. Bellamy would most likely give him the kicking he deserves for being so selfish. lol 4 - Yaya Toure - One of the best midfielders out there. driving force for Man City and give Silva the space to play. Silva is not in the top 5 for this reason. It is Yaya that is giving Silva the space that makes him look so good. Silva wasn't doing anywhere near as well while Toure was at the cup of nations. 5 - Could take your pick from many but I'll go for Kevin Nolan who has single handedly helped West Ham to a 20 point lead at the top of the Championship and provided 'Messi-like' play-making qualities of passing the ball and beautiful football proving big Sam's decision to give him premier wages to be a masterstroke of genius If only we could afford such an influential player as him
Difficult to pick 5, as need to consider all positions. How about: Julio Cesar, Lucio, Silva, Neymar and van Persie currently. On a side note, why are there so few good full backs I can think of especially in the English leagues?
How about this as an off the top of my head decent balanced starting XI: Cesar, Srna, Cole, Kompany, Lucio, Yaya Toure, Cambiasso, Silva, Erikssen, Neymar, van Persie. Probably not enough Spanish players though...
