Blakes Seven, was so cheap it worked! would love to see a re run of all the Q series from dear old Spike " What are we going to do now!" ...... for those who are old enough to have seen it!
Bloody hell jarold, can't agree there, Blakes Seven was absolute carp. My bro'-in-law, who's a Binner, has the complete set on VHS, says it all really
Anyone remember "Budgie" starring Adam Faith ?. Classic line. Budgie sitting at the bar in a pub says, "Can i have a glass of water with a squeeze of lemon", his mate asks "why are you drinking that Budge", Reply, "If you had what I've got, thats what you'd be drinking". "Why, what you got ?" "Threepence 'appeny".
Budgie was brilliant. Reminds me of another from the seventies - Hazell, co-created by Terry Venables!
This is the story Of a lovely lady Who was bringing up three very lovvely girls All of them had hair of gold like their mother The youngest one in curls
Most of the programs mentioned here are available - full episodes, full series. Indeed I had a Juliet Bravo marathon only the other day....

I was too young for most of the series mentioned first time round but thanks to a diet of repeats in my youth I loved Python and Dad's Army. Nobody has mentioned Minder - Arthur Cole was quality in that. Also more recently - Red Dwarf and The Fast Show. Top notch
Despite being well before my time, Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads was class. Same goes for Porridge and Auf Weidersein (sp?).
Whatever happened to the likely lads is my all time favourite, ever since I first watched them as a ten year old in 1972 ! I know most of the episodes word for word now but still never tire of watching them on DVD (Confession, I've also got every single Carry On film and TV show on DVD too .....coat)
Oh what happened to you? Whatever happened to me? What became of the people, we used to be! James Bolam & Rodney Bewes - Genius!

I think there is something quite quaint about how English comedy is summed up by the whole premise of the double entendre!

One of the few things this country can be rightly proud of is its brilliant comedy writers down the years! Simpson & Galton - Steptoe & Son Perry & Croft - Dads Army, Are You Being Served, Aint half hot mum, Hi-de-hi, Allo Allo Ian Le Frenais & Dick Clement - The Likely Lads, Porridge John Sullivan - Fools & Horses, Just Good Friends, Dear John, Citizen Smith Bob Larbey - Ever Decreasing Circles Ben Elton & Curtis - Blackadder, The thin blue line The list is endless! Brilliant comedy series....
