If he asked any of the lads out there if they were heroes they would so no as well, it's what the majority of decent people in this country feel about our armed forces no matter what their opinions on the war. It's about supporting the lads and lasses who are putting their lives on the line to keep tools like this safe under his stone. Bet he doesn't even know where that sign is billy, I saw two of those both in South Armagh 1 in Newry and 1 in XMG.
His opinion bothers me not one jot but his lies do. Crossmaglen, very nice there now, as I mentioned before, I love going over now I am just a tourist. I love the Antrim coast the most, very beautiful & tranquil.
Didn't do rural tour myself - did West Belfast with 1 BW. Fortunately never had to worry about 50 cal Snipers Rifles - the worst we had to worry about was RPG's and we had a Pig hit by one - very messy !
My heroism was noted by the city I live in after saving a woman from a car in the river( turns out she didn't want saving) but I have a nice certificate of bravery from city hall somewhere I don't blow my hole about it. As to the other poster flapping his gums about the forces protecting ''tools like me" I very much doubt they are. I'm not British you see but don't let that get in the way of your ideas... British army protecting the world
I've no gripe with any ex service men billy, I deal with an ex r.a.f. dog handler every other week, it's the heroes **** does my head in. It's the British media spin I know but it wrecks my head
I don't think anyone is saying we are protecting the world, its a far simpler thread, 6 young men died and no matter how they died I find that sad and a reason to reflect. My reason for asking the question of how and why is because I never did join up and I have a genuine interest in why others did, I have not seen one person say, "its because I wanted to be an hero". I also said I have no interest in this thread to the rights and wrongs of war, just an interest in people. I also wonder why people, like yourself, feel the need to pour scorn on people who do put their lives on the line, it says in my mind far more about you than the people you are critical of.
Aaah that's it then you are pissed off that your heroism isn't recognized outside your City, I'm sure the person whose life you saved is still very grateful and no doubt their family as well. As for not being British fine my mistake but I did say tools like you not actually you but, if the cap fits over your oversized cranium then crack on mate.
Then it wasn't meant to be then, maybe that was her intent when you got involved at least you gave her an extra week to think about what she wanted. No doubt her death had an effect on you as well as her friends and family, you did the right thing in your mind. Hero (female heroine) a person who is admired for having done something very brave or having achieved something great. I believe that the British servicemen and women are doing that now and that you did that when you rescued that woman.
In 1976 I went for an interview to join the RAF. I remember it was next door to "The Fishbowl", opposite Mowbray Park. After 2 hours I was all set to join up and when asked if there were anymore questions, I came up with a killer..."Will I be allowed my saturdays off as I'm a big Sunderland fan". Since 1976 I've been a bricklayer.
Three Afghans have been shot and killed by a US soldier firing on civilians, according to an official. The soldier has been detained in the southern province of Kandahar, a spokesman for the Nato-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) coalition has said. ..........................................................
