Jol went on the record last night saying he thinks FFC could finish as high as sixth. Here's the story from ESPN: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/s...martin-jol-dreaming-of-top-six-finish?cc=5739

Looking at the table, Liverpool are three ahead of us, while Newcastle are eight. Newcastle's form has been poor after a great start to the season, so I think would could eventually overtake them. Liverpool I'm not so sure about.

    Any thoughts?

    Could we? Yes.
    Will we? No.

I'd much rather Jol was aiming high though. We're in a very competitive area of the league at the moment, and aiming high will help Jol motivate the lads.

possible but I don't think we will. We've had 3 good games and will need to solidify those performances with a result at Villa and at home against Swansea and Norwich before I say we will do it. Great to have ambition, loving MJ at the moment.

I would love if we did but we'll settle for top ten and build from there.

I like him pointing out that we were 3 or 4 points above relegation last year (under Hughes) and 13 or 14 this year under Jol. I think MAF has him on a bonus to wind up Hughes:emoticon-0116-evilg

I can't see it unless you improve your way form.

At home you are easily a top 6 side but away you are probably a bottom 6 side

    This.

The fact that there were people fretting about relegation over Christmas and we're now looking at top 6 is brilliant. How we do over the next 4 games is crucial.

Lawro's actually predicting an away win for us against Villa. That's basically the kiss of death in my book, but our form has caught his attention.

TBH you are the 5th best team imo. Really rate your players.

    1. City/manure
    2. city manure
    3. arsenal
    4, chavs
    5, fulham
    6, spuds
    7, bar codes
    8, loserpool

Thats my honest opinion. Spuds are overrated big time. And loserpool are championship standard. I think settling in with a new manager will cost you 5th though. Next season maybe <ok>

Just when we feeling better, but still realistic, as evidenced by most of the comments on this thread, why did Lawro have to suddenly become Pro-Fulham? It eaither means that we really have turned a corner, or he's put the mockers on our current run.

However, I remain hopeful for 4 on the spin. But will take the likely draw.

Ambition thats what we lack...we say top 10, we should aim at top 6 - consistancy is the key. Rightly pointed out above our away form is shocking.

Very nice to be told we're better than spurs liverpool and newcastle, though we've only had 3 wins in a row so we can't get ahead of ourselves. Don't think spurs are overrated at all, from around october to february they were probably the 2nd best in the league. But thankyou for the kind words about fulham!

Very strange his prediction, I think its more that he really doesn't rate villa particularly without Bent and Keane now. When we're at home, he always bangs on about how much he'd love to have a fulham season ticket, when we're away he writes us off regardless of who were playing. I would always happily take a draw away from home and today is no different, even if I'm quietly of doing better than that.

Not in a million years if we don't change mentality! Top 6? Never till we decide that we are going for the 3 points on away games. Feel sorry for the 1000+ that went there to see this poor performance.

Bet it was doomed since Lawro's prediction!

Sorry but to suggest Fulham are better than Spurs is borderline insanity.
