http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11701_6836560,00.html? On-loan Stoke striker John Carew should be back for the clash with Chelsea next weekend after his withdrawal from the Norway squad. The 31-year-old forward has a back injury and will not play for his country against near neighbours Demark in a Euro 2012 qualifier. Potters manager Tony Pulis is pleased with the decision to withdraw Carew from international duty and he expects him to be back for the Premier League encounter with the Blues, having not played since 5th March. "I know he wouldn't have been fit to play for us this weekend, so it didn't really surprise me he was pulled out of Norway's game," Pulis said in The Sentinel. "We are expecting John back at the club next Thursday as things stand, and I'd be disappointed if he wasn't close to being OK again. "Everybody has seen how well the big fella has done since joining us on loan from Villa in January - on and off the pitch. "He's a big character, and with a wealth of experience we will find useful with so many big games coming up between now and the end of the season." Attitude Meanwhile, Pulis is hoping Glenn Whelan will come back from the international break with the Republic of Ireland in good condition after his recent return to the starting line-up. "I'd expect Glenn to play the full game against Macedonia, but hopefully he won't be doing much next Tuesday in the friendly," added Pulis. "His attitude for us has been first-class. He's come back and done well for us, but sometimes players do need a break. "Look at Jon Walters. Let's not forget he was out for a few games, and look what he's done since he came back."
Why not Jub?.......as long as we go for it we have a chance. Neck on block............Stoke 2 - 1 Chelsea.
The way we are playing we can beat anybody at home two amazing performances against West Ham and Newcastle. The atmosphere was great and the feel good factor is back cant wait to get my ticket for wembley tuesday for me.We have nothing to lose against Chelsea and lets be honest we have been unlucky against them last couple of seasons.Did anybody watch our lads yesterday Danny Coliins had a difficult day for Wales playing at left back again while Glen Whelan was steady for Republic Of Ireland.
Because I don't want to get my neck sliced! Hahah! No Chelsea are a much better side, and they'll win us 3-0 I reckon.
Sorry Jub......don't agree with you on this one,I'm with Conroylegend here. There is a win there for us...just need to go for it!!.
I'm not overly confident, but Wolves have beat 'em. There's always a chance of beating anyone when we go for it. Plus they've got Man U a few days later in the CL, extra pressure for them.
After what's happened 2 of our matches against them the last 2 seasons, we owe them a dose of their own medicine with a last minute winner. http://www.stokecityfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10310~2325723,00.html? - The game has sold out
Superb result. Awesome second half from about 55 minutes in. I thought we battered Chelsea for the last half hour or so. They were the better side in the first half but the more the game progressed, the more likely we looked to win it. Jones and Walters were excellent and I thought our midfield, played it around really well in the second half. Well unlucky with Walters and Huth efforts-brilliant keeping by their keeper. Fuller great headed chance and should have buried it. More confident as we approach the semi. Up the potters
Fantastic performance from the lads today. We started well, scored through a fantastic run and finish by Super Jonny. For the rest of the half, Chelsea were the better team, scored a goal that Higgy won't be proud of but we got to half time. I thought Matty was a little poor in the first half but it looks like he got a kick up the arse at half time because 2nd half he was a lot better. We got down the flanks, played good football, got crosses in, Kenny and Jonny put them under pressure all the time. Apart from a few decent chances, Chelsea didn't threaten that much and maybe played a little too much football when they could have shot. We looked like we were the ones to win it, I thought Huth had scored but Cech pulled out a world class save. Fuller (and I say this through gritted teeth!!) did offer us another dimension, gave them plenty of problems and could have scored a goal but to be fair it was a tight angle and he did as much as he could have. Whitehead gave us a bit more energy when he came on as well, settled things. That was Kenny's best game for us I reckon. He was a right handful, won a lot in the air against international class centre backs, he held it up well, had the better of Terry and Luiz a few times and could have scored after a brilliant turn, shame he didn't score, he would've deserved it. Huth was fantastic at the back, almost faultless, he is immense. I thought Wilson had his best game at right back today, he is very calm on the ball and he is a lovely passer of a ball and was unlucky not to score with that superb effort. Super Jonny though was just awesome. He ran himself ragged, never stopped, was a massive handful, scored a great goal, was great in the air, laid the ball off well. He is becoming a massive hero for me right now. I just love the guy, definite man love for Walters certainly.
Outstanding performance Tony and the lads did us proud yesterday and we really took the game to Chelsea and very unlucky not to come away with the 3 points.Everybody played well but Super Jonny walters goal was world class last week he made a similar run against Newcastle. What a signing by TP and what a diffrence a few weeks make we are buzzing and the next game can't come sooner enough. That tackle looks a real bad one but luckly no damage done. Looking forward to wembley and if we play like this we can go all the way and lift the cup. UP THE POTTERS
