There's been some poor buys, but generally they've been cheap.

Certainly not for Hleb and Arteta. Arshavin was quality for 6 months to a year and I'll always have fond memories of his 4 goals against Liverpool. Wenger's poor decisions for me have been at the back more than up front but Jeffers is a good call!

Amaury Bischoff has to be in there though...

Hleb and Arshavin are not flops per se. They had their moments of brilliance and but faded away. Not sure why Arteta is on the list? Reyes was quality before he left us in controversial circumstances.

  4. No way Arteta is a flop. I'd agree with taking out Hleb too. Was Reyes a flop or did he just not stay with us long enough?

I'm not saying I have not been disappointed with Arshavin but I thought there were stats which showed that his assists were out of the top drawer. Perhaps someone could clarify this. That said , the early magic which he showed seems to be diminishing or have faded into the distance...

Definately not Hleb for starters, he formed one of our best midfields in recent memory. Arteta is not a flop either and has been a steady performer. Arshavin started off brightly but ended up a flop and Denilson was never that great to begin with, so can't be regarded a flop. The rest are however.

But recent flops and players that should be added are Chamakh, Vela, Park, JET, Bendtner, Merida, Sanchez Watt.....damn there is quite a few and more that i can't remember...

Hleb was a key player for Arsenal before he left. How come he is a flop. A flop that was good enough to be bought by Barcelona? C'mon. Arshavin saved our season when he came and help us to finish in the CL place. He was Man Of the Match in 80% of his games that season. He faded later and did not play up to his standard, but his standard is higher than most of the squad. If Arteta is a flop then you just do not understand football.

Where's Oleg Luzhny and Jose Reyes ?

Arteta in this team is a joke, seriously, the guy has impressed all season.
To be fair Van Bronkhorst was decent for us as well...

    Arteta? <yikes>

Also disagree with Hleb and Arshavin being flops.

squillaci £6.5million?, some one call the cops .... makes stepanovs and cygan out to be a world class cbs ....

whilst it is always nice to have a laugh ,,, would the OP care the address the balence and put out a top class 11 players brought to the club by wenger .... we all make mistakes ... as the dalek said climbing off the dustbin ... but wenger has a few hits as well ..... but ...

i'd put any team named to play against the team below who all played under wenger but he had no hand in bringing them to arsenal .... not sure who would win but what a game it would be, i've picked some top draw players wenger did buy that were not duds...

    seaman (lehman)
    winterburn (cole)
    adams (campbell)
    keown (toure)
    bould (tv)
    dixon (clichy)
    merson (cesc)
    platt (viera)
    parlour (denilson!!!!!! sorry pires)
    wright (henry)

Don't agree with Arteta, Hleb and Arshavin but the rest deserve to be there.
I'd add Pennant and Silvestre to that list

Its nonsense, as said no way Hleb was a flop and neither is Arteta, in fact he has been vitally important. Van Bronkhorst wasn't a flop, in fact, he went to Barcelona as a result of his performances for us.

Stepanovs was worse than Cygan and Luzhny wasn't a flop either - he wasn't great but wasn't a flop. Reyes and Arshavin were not flops, they were/are hot and cold but not flops. The only proper flops in that list are Richard Wright, Squillaci and Jeffers.

Jeffers for me is the most shocking signing arsenal have made under Wenger! For someone with such a good eye for talent god knows what he saw in him!

Have to say when talking of flops Silvestre went far beyond that. But Talk Sport would never insult a Man Utd player.

I think when you look at some of these deals, Wenger just takes a flier. It's almost like someone doing a bit of day-trading for fun. A lot of these players did not put in many appearances for Arsenal, and the ones that did, probably shouldn't be on the list.

I think Park is a bit like that right now. He has room on the squad to train him, so picks a player with a big upside (in this case the asian market), if they do come good. If they don't come good, they don't play.

Hadn't he scored 20 in 20 or something ridiculous before we got him?! Shocking when he was with us. Our very own fox in the box.... *shudder*

At least with the likes of Reyes and Hleb, love 'em or hate 'em, we made profits when they were sold. Hell, we even got our money we paid back for Cygan! Took a hit on Frannie though <wah>

TT asian market .. spot on who remembers .... Inamoto ... 2 CC starts and walked out at highbury to lift the prem league trophy with the rest of the squad .. i assume purely for asian tv ....

i can't think of a poorer player then squilliaci though and to think this guy captained our club ... i think wenger needs his head examined purely on this non entity, denilwho was poor, jeffers was over awed and not upto it, but the squil beats all comers to the "Gus Ceaser Most Useless Arsenal Footballer Award" hands down and to be honest 5 or 6 million is not cheap, thats decent money for a waste of space.
