    Sure did!

But I'm quite happy about it, I like Hogan, a honest lad and a proper pro. Good managing Sparky <ok>

Why? Hes useless and didnt even make the 25 in the summer, not sure if he made it into the January squad but hes never in the match day squad.

    A total waste.

He'll be on a pittance compared to most of the squad. If we stay up he's probably not good enough but at 23 he's able to command a decent fee from a Championship team which wouldn't be the case if out of contract. If we go down he's a useful player in the league below. We need to invest in youth and, though he's not good enough right now, you can't fault his effort and, like Mackie, his attitude will count for a lot if he can bulk up a bit and break into the team. He's got good technical skills but just hasn't improved physically.

Id say ok NPC player, its not just the money he will be on, he will be taking a up a squad place when we already have enough crap players. We should be going for a smaller squad with more quality.

Hed be about 5th or 6th choice on the wing. Not worth taking up a squad place, maybe if he was u21.

He's not taking up a squad place as he's not in the 25. Still only 23 and could still develop significantly, a cheap investment that could come in handy if we were to do the unspeakable.

Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, Hughes explained his thinking behind offering the former West Ham United ace a new contract, commenting: "When I arrived at the Club Hogan hadn't played much football which made it difficult to include him in the 25. But I felt it was only right that I gave him the opportunity to show what he can do.

"Hogan has got a great attitude and this extension gives him the chance to push on and stake a claim for a place in next season's squad."

Said it before, bit of support will help the players more than slagging them off.

He will never make it if he reading QPR forums for support, a player who is that mentally weak might as well give up.

I'm pleased for him, perhaps he's physically a little light-weight but seems like a good guy and he always gives 100%. I thought he came across particularly well in The Four Year Plan film. <ok>

You expect praise for someone whos not even in the top 25 players at the club?

Let me guess, you think Agyemang and Vine are great too.

I'm by no means saying that he's in the same class as these two, but Hogan can learn a lot from watching the example set by Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain at Arsenal. Both were roundly slated for being too easy to brush off the ball when they first broke into the Gunners' team, but they have adapted and are far better as a result. Walcott has the pace and guile that means defenders don't know what he's going to do (and by the time they find out, he's 10 yards away and steaming), whilst Oxlade Chamberlain looks to have bulked up and got majorly stronger since his move from Saints.

Hogan's a good player, but he's probably two yards of pace and a stone away from where he ought to be. If he can work on his speed and strength, so that he can get to the ball and be difficult to shrug off when he gets there, then he could be seriously knocking on the door of the first team squad.

As usual, no comeback so the insults start.
Does anyone honestly think we need a 6th choice winger in the 25?
    Taarabt
    Traore
    Smith
    Mackie
    SWP

He has zero chance in overtaking at least 3 of them in the pecking order so at best he will be 4th choice.

He's not in the 25 though...

If we go down, he's a useful player. If we stay up, we get a better fee. I don't see the problem.

He is not a out and out winger and as Willy said he is a very good player and i agree with that in fact he can play across the midfield is young skillful and I don't agree about him being lightweight ( Silva, Messi ) that is rubbish. he is a great little tackler and he has been recognised by MH as being a player with the right talents for the future ... I see him as a real prospect and you don't sell your furure

This strikes me as a little strange, but good luck to the fella.

He did score one of my favourite goals last season (against Middlesbrough at home).

sfunny how we are always willing to embrace smallish foreign players yet when it comes to a smallish English lad we knock him. Reckon Hogan deserves the opportunity to prove himself and I'm glad he's got it.

The fact he has virtually missed a season will spur him on to do better for next year
