A question on 'rep power' (if any mods are lurking...)

    When rep power was introduced I noticed everyone was set at '1', now I see newer users (and WUMs) tend to have '0' and a few others have a higher number.

    How does the rep system work? Is it based on post count, points or rep recieved/given?

    Based on rep given/taken/received isnt it? Also when you have 2 rep power for example you can give or take away 2 rep from someone.

    Newbies = 0 rep points
    Members up to 1000 posts = 1 rep point
    1000-1999 = 2 rep points
    2000+ = 3 rep points

    Don't know how far after that... What Smudger says is also correct I've heard.

    Initially rep power was based on your own rep I believe (~10 for 1 rep power), but not any more since this shows the points and reputation levels of people and you have people with all kinds of levels of reputation with high rep powers.

    Highest Reputation:
    1 - No Way Past Jose - 76
    2 - Gutierrez_right_boot - 74
    3 - AbsolutelyGlorious - 73

    Use of Rep System (ie rep given out)
    1 - Astral Toon - 256
    2 - Agent Badger - 226
    3 - steviemac14 - 186

    No red is negative rep and the person is online. Green is the person who gave positive rep you it is online, Grey offline
