Personally I see the Makems game as a crossroads/litmus test for Kenny. After the Arsenal game, I feel he needs to do SOMETHING. If he doesn't do anything with team selection, I think it will mark the beginning of the end for the legend.

As the man himself is fond of saying, no-one is bigger than the club, and if he carries on, blinkered to the situation, he will be driving a nail into his own coffin in my eyes. If he thinks that what he is doing is the right thing and no-one can tell him otherwise, then he is thinking himself bigger than the club.

It is time to take a brave step, what that is, I don't really care! I do have ideas of my own (Coates instead of Carra / Kuyt up front / Sterling on the bench / Midfield getting into the opposition box for an attack) but I am not going to claim I know more than Kenny, I just know that after Arsenal, enough has to be enough. 4th is still possible, if Spurs go into freefall and all the others around us don't make the best of that situation, but I don't think that plodding on with the same game plan will get us more than 10 points this season.

So if Kenny can come out on Saturday and grasp the opportunity with both hands, then hurray for all of us, but if it is the same tired old squad/formation and ethos that runs out, I for one will be far from impressed, and mine and Kenny's honeymoon will be over.

To be fair, I don't think he needs to do anything drastic this weekend. The performance was brilliant against Arsenal but yet again, our finishing let us down. This is not down to tactics or team selection because everyone is struggling to score goals and everyone is lacking compsure.

Our issues are more to do with a lack of signing a natural goal scorer than incorrectly using our current squad. For that reason both comolli and Kk are responsible for thinking no additions were needed in jan. nothing they can do now but I hope they realise that during the summer we need a proper striker

Kenny failed by not signing a striker in Jan, Carrol and Suarez haven't worked in terms of goals. I would like to see Kenny get another season to see if he can get the team firing, as the football being played is the best we've seen for a while, but JH may think differently!

IMO there was nobody really to the quality to play for us for 5 years out there and available in jan. I think the public face of waht was said and private work may well be different. I think its really safe to say that if you got a look at our transfer wish list for the summer you'll final stiekr as no 1.

kenny's going nowhere.. i think this menatality that instant success is required needs to go, city too 3 years to get to the cl and we want it in one?

    come on guys....

I'm not disappointed at all with what Kenny has achieved, IMO winning the CC and FAC would make this a great season, but as an owner its the money and the publicity of being in the CL which must be the ultimate aim, which its looking like KK is going to fail to deliver.

I agree that there wasn't anyone available in Jan worthy of a 5 year contract, but still believe we should have gambled on a experienced player on a shorter contract. As it is now we are still in the same position as last summer in terms of signing players, cant offer huge wages or champions league football so again we will have to settle for either young unproven players or players that are near the end of their careers.

I do think this liverpool team under KK has delivered some of the best football we have seen for a while and of course i want him to stay as manager, but we need to make that step up into the CL if he is to have any chance of developing a PL winning team, for that we need more goals/quality and we need it now, as i expect Chelsea and Arsenal will be a lot better next season!

  8. For those saying we should have signed a striker in January, your right, we should have. However, what if the right player wasn't available or proved to be out of our price range? I'd rather stumble along until the summer than sign the wrong player.

No changes at all needed for the weekend, play like we did against arsenal and we will win. However, i would still like to see sterling on the bench at least.

OK, we made a mistake with Carrol although he is improving slowly, but the intension was the right one IMO getting in the CL. How are we going to sign the right player when we can't offer CL football? the only teams that have done that are City and Chelsea by offering stupid contracts.
As I said before I'm expecting both those teams as well as arsenal and united to look at strengthening their teams in the summer and this will leave us again looking at the bottom of the barrel.

The chance for CL football was there for the taking this season and its looking like we will miss out, I think we will be better next season but i also think CL qualification will be a lot harder.

I can't believe anyone is even thinking of getting rid of Kenny after one and a half seasons in charge of a team that was in a downward spiral when he took over.
We are Liverpool and we've never done things that way and I don't think we should start now

When things aren't working naturally we search desperately for reasons, and because there's always room for improvement it's easy to pinpoint areas where we could improve. However, I've said before that if we'd had a striker who'd put away about 15 this season so far (one of RVP's legs would do) or a bit more luck/ composure from the ones we've got, then we'd be top three and we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

This ^ <ok> Not quite sure what's up with Nobleox. He's pessimistic with every post he makes. I don't remember him being like that going back.

  13. Your right, we need to be able to offer Champions League football to be able to get the best players. However, we also need better players to get into the Champions League. IMO, we need do some scouting for a player that is at a level lower than ourselves at present but is good enough for Champions League football, that means scouting. We shouldn't just sign someone for the sake of it, we should take our time to find the right player.

We only need to do one thing - BUY SOMEONE WHO CAN PUT THE BALL IN THE ****ING NET!! God is still knocking about, why don't we nab him for the remainder of the season and then get someone a bit younger in the summer?

  16. As much as I like that idea, Robbie is sadly not good enough for the Premier League anymore. We definitely need a poacher (not a lot we can do about it at minute) but we also need the midfield to start chipping in with some goals too. There is only Gerrard that looks like scoring from midfield!

Edit: it would fit in with this seasons theme though...Scholes, Henry, etc

I would go for this!!! he wouldn't say no to liverpool even if we offered him £90/week!!! I think its a bit late for us now though, unless we don't drop any more points.

I'm not having a go at Noble- we're all entitled to our opinion. Mine is that we should do things the way we always have (as much as is possible in today's world) and give our manager time to build.
We're not Barca, but we ain't a bad team either. We've played some good footie but failed at the crucial thing, which makes us seem worse overall.
I think we need to get a goalscorer and then see how the whole thing gels. If it still isn't working well enough, then we can look at other areas.

guys... name one.. just name one guy who was availble, not cost as much as someone we'd be buying for 5 years (say ten mil)

defoe? not available never going to be

whos the guy whos going to socre more than carroll and suarez coming in from scratch???

I think we need to address this fine but i am confident the club is doing its best to do so... the days of hoping we are not sabotaged by G&H are long gone. we will improve again this summer. we will win more stuff, we will NOT nor were very likley to get 4th this year.

I'm sanguine about it now. Once the disbelief had faded that we managed to get beaten by Arsenal, I knew that 4th had gone. If we'd won that as we really should have, I think we might just have done it.
