Should he start or be on the bench on Saturday? I personally feel he is now due a spell on the bench as he is clearly not doing what a striker is essentially being paid to do for long enough. More than happy to take flak for this one as it's about time someone said it.Fire away.
gestede will probably miss this game, earnshaw hasnt been in the team for months, and thats all the backup we've got. if we had players in who could come in and do better than miller, then maybe a game or two on the bench would do him good, but the reality is that he will play, simply because of lack of options. besides, i dont think its beyond him to play himself back into form, he's a good footballer as well as working hard for the team, even when the goals dont go in he brings alot to the table, for that reason i'd stick with him..
I go along with Swamp. Don't foget the Wurzels defence is good at conceding - just got to score more than them. So Kenny should have the chance to get back in the groove on Saturday.
Lads! In 14 games of 2012 he's score what, twice? Mason or Earnie up front with Lawrence tucked in behind and please Malky bring back Conway assuming he's fit.
ITI Give it up mate, Earnie's got a ticket for a slow ride to a far destination. We simply don't get the ball quickly enough into the spaces Earnie would need to give him a chance of scoring - always assuming he still has the pace to get there and the control to get his shot in. The first was his strength and the second was never his best attribute, without either he is nothing. Malky sees him in training so knows what he can/can't do. Got to agree with you on Conway. What has he done wrong since he scored against Pompey?
Miller is not the answer to our goal scoring problems. He's oky playing alongside a recognised striker who can compliment him. With him alone up front we're pissing in the wind. he's had one purple patch this season when he knocked them in for fun, but now his play is more fetching the ball and trying to create something where the midfield is lacking of late. Great he can run and hassle but we want him scoring the goals. Earnie as an impact sub maybe, nothing more. Gestede injured but even fit he's not the most prolific goal scorer, perhaps in time. Mason is still learning as is Conway, we need a striker who is going to score goals, I don't care if he doesn't run his arse off or track back, I want him to put the ball in the net regularly. Is there such a player we can get in the loan window? Sadly I think not
Earnie may not be the answer at this moment we don’t know but what we do know is king Kenny is not finding the net and his on the pitch. Earnie is not ever going to be able to prove he can hit the back off the net when he is not even on the pitch. Give the little guy a game what harm can it do, At least Kenny can have a rest then come back all guns blazing for our run off home games!!
As I said, Malky see what he does in training and if its not good enough then forget sentiment and what he did for us before, but its not good enough. Who knows best us or his manager? Even in his former glories Earnie would not fit our style of play due to his lack of close controil and ability to hold the ball up. When he came on for Wales last week he tried to track back and play out of the middle to give Vokes more space. Earnie was like a fish out of water and didn't have a clue until he got his offside opportunity. Yes it went in but the whole defence were 10 yards further up the pitch so no challenge made and when did Earnie last score with a header? That's got to be a University Challenge question. Don't get me wrong, I'm not an Earnie hater, far from it (I really wish it had worked out for him and us) and he will always be a legend for what he did 9/10 years ago. But he doesn't have what we need now. In some respects it's almost a repeat of the Blooby Fowlup situation although Earnie has always loved our club and I'm sure doesn't get pleasure from taking his wage and not playing - he would love to have the opportunity of playing every week. By the way, big headlines last week about Blobby signing for Blackpool. Turns out they offered him a basic £100 a week to sign. Is he worth that much? Perhaps Leeds will have him back. Papa Smurf always has an eye for a bargain. Taff has it right, we need another competent striker who can fit our style of play.
Lets put Turner up front with Miller and put Darcy at centre back. Not 100% sure but I think Turner played centre forward in his youth.
Blue! This is no longer sentiment m8 this is a case of Miller as a striker not scoring goals.Earnie cannot score goals if he is blanked out by Malky. If this had been Jonesy everyone would be screaming blue murder by now.The other fit striker apart from Joe Mason is Earnie. How can he be judged on his ability if he is never given game time or rarely give a place on the bench.I cannot see where this new loan striker in shining armour is coming from to be honest so why not utilise what is available.
I agree but only if what is available is better, within our playing style, than the guy in place at the moment. I just can't see Earnie doing it. Mind you if Miller was injured or suspended then Earnie would be our only choice and I'm sure he would do his utmost to make the best of it. His effort and commitment is never in doubt.
Again going alone the lines off ITIWRAN. I love Earnie it’s always nice to see a player come home and I wish things had worked out better for both parties. All I have said for the last few weeks now is we are looking tired. Frankly I don’t care how well he trains Earnie is a goal scorer and given the chance will still score goals how many may be a doubt but he will score. Even if he play 1 or 2 games and did nothing so what the benefit in resting Miller would be far greater than him plodding along as he is now. Surly you play what you have when you need it and at the moment good enough or not we need to rest a few miller included.
Miller doesn't need a rest, he needs a goal, and he wont get that sitting on the bench. When (not if) he scores one, he'll get a bagfull again. Trying too hard is his problem and bench warming would do nothing for his confidence. Malky stuck with him earlier in the season when it wasn't going for him and it came good. I think Malky will go with that again - hope to God Kenny doesn't let both him and us down. Sorry Bobby - Earnie is not the answer for me. In fact, there is no one else at the club who is. Young Joe Mason would be in there for me every time, Earnie alongside him is a non starter. Rhondda's mention of Turner up front is very interesting though.
Can't afford Turner not to play centre half imo. As a last 10 minute desperation option prehaps but not to start. If Earnie was showing anything in training he'd be getting game time. Totally agree that Miller just needs a goal.
I think Miller should be on the bench at brizzle and be replaced by Mason who appears to be the man in form. A five in midfield with Conway, Gunnarson, Whittingham, Cowie and Lawrence or Vukic should be good enough.
Big mistake to leave Miller out afaic, it's not going to do him any good sat on the bench and don't forget the other side to his game, his pass through for Mason to score against the pool was magic and he worries the **** out of defenders, I've no doubt at all that he'll be back on the scoresheet against the Wurzels
Sussex! I genuinely hope you are right but "over the bar" are words closely associated with Miller of late.I know all strikers dry up sometimes but he is now on a stand pipe.
I hope that king Kenny comes good again I even predicted him to score in a 2-0 with against B City in the prediction league. I still cant help but think though we have a squad and if there was ever a time to use it it is now before we enter the last 10 games some fresh legs and minds will be worth their weight in gold.
