Think he is referring to his confidence being so shattered that he would pass up an easy chance to score. He needs the goals and passed on it, if true, because he probably thought he would miss.

His loss of pace is one thing I would be hugely worried about, that was such a big part of his game, just ghost by players.

He simply doesn't have that extra half a yard of pace in and around the box that he used to have. And that was his main attribute - also an attribute that's near on impossible to get back once it's gone.

He's had his best days by a mile - and everyone knows which club that was at <whistle>

I'd like to add all of the surgeries on his knees and that didn't help his trust in his own body. He probably can't quite push it like he used to. Rafa used to say Torres needed to work on the skill side because Physically he had it. Ah well, cum se cum sa or whatever it is.

    if not nando then who?

i think torres leaving has affected gerrards game, there is no-one in front of him making the runs for a killer pass!

i know he has been injured and, perhaps, not yet back to his rampaging best but suarez doesn't make runs like that and carroll can't so we're lacking up top.

we need a good striker to get the best out of stevie g

  9. I'm not convinced it is the pace he has lost, it is the acceleration. He was pacey at Liverpool but he was never in the same league as a Walcott or Lennon. However, his thought process and acceleration was phenomenal and IMO this is not as good as it once was, it is that that separated him from others IMO.

Way too many Liverpool fans look at this with some rose tinted glasses. It was the same with Michael Owen. We got rid of Torres at the right time, or maybe even 6 months too late. We got rid of Owen 2 years too late. They were spent and damaged, lame even. And quite why people keep wanting to bring back players that truly need to go to the glue factory, always makes me shake my head. They always seem to think that for some reason they will stop being "past it" and somehow become good players. They wont. We never want them back. Can you people not even learn from our own clubs history? both Ian Rush and Robbie Fowler were never as good the second time around. So instead of looking to get a second cup of tea out of a used teabag, use your energy on finding good young players that will get 30+ goals a season.

No road back for him, he's not the player he was anyway. Loyalty is more important no one player is bigger than the club.

I'd have him back on loan with an option of a 15 million signing at the end of the season, he was a quality player- he can be that good again.
It's not like other quality players are coming here atm, Carroll, Downing, etc

I'm not convinced it is the pace he has lost, it is the acceleration.

Good point (and the comparisons made to Owen in another reply). Unless you're a winger (or a full back) it's not about running 30/40 yards, it's about 5 yards in or around the box. And Fowler was another one who lost that after his cruciate injury against Everton.

Sad, but as said, once it's gone it's gone. They can re-nvent themselves as 'target men', or even just be highly paid nuisances with intelligent runs and pulling defenders around, but your big ugly centre-back is not going to fear playing them any more, as say Vidic was about the Torres of three years ago or Keown against the yound Owen.

No! he can't, you need to get a grip on reality, he has gone forever, never to be as good as when he wasn't a Judas

it's more than that, the confidence has gone too, how many one-on-one with an empty net has he totally fluffed this season, his brain will simply not let him score. He is paying the price for glory hunting.

Yes cut price + sturridge! In all honesty its probably the system and the pressure that are making Torres as bad as he is this season and part of last.Much like Carroll in our way of playing...

That said id have thought a player of his calibre(When he could score half chances and terrorise defenders - Ala Vidic) could adjust to any system.

If Rafa does take over chelsea i reckon he could get the best out of him provided the owner doesnt offload him before then.

  18. I wouldn't take him back, he made is bed so let him lay in it. However, I agree with what you saying about the system etc. Torres got three in five under Kenny before leaving!

Why would we try to solve our goalscoring problem by signing a striker who can't score?
