I was just browsing through the premier league table for all-seasons which shows all 45 teams that have played in the premier league since it was formed and the results for the two East Anglian sides are as follows:

    Norwich P 191 W 59 D 59 L 73 GF 243 GA 301 GD -58 Pts 236 Pos=29th
    1p5wich P 202 W 57 D 53 L 92 GF 219 GA 312 GD -93 Pts 224 Pos=30th

As you can see despite playing 11 games less in the premier league so far City have a far superior record to their East Anglian rivals, which can only get better as this season progresses. Also City are above Wolves, West Brom & Stoke in the all-seasons premier league table, and 2 points behind QPR (but I expect us to move above them shortly) Swansea are also on the table, but as this is their first season in the premier league I thought it unfair to compare our premier league record with theirs

all it proves is that east anglia's two top teams have massively underachieved since the premier league began - both should have at least double that number of games really <ok>

warky mate, we all understand that you are incredibly proud of your clubs history but it is not even slightly relevant most of the time. its because its all you've got to throw at us at the moment because we are better than you - its the default response to anything we post, in the same way as some plums would brag about how we had bigger attendances in league one than you did a league higher. what does it matter? its a stupid and lazy argument to make your club appear better when its not.

its boring and irrelevant 99.9% of the time. i feel it would be nice to have threads where it doesn't descend into this farcical response <ok>

it probably will - but you have absolutely no way of knowing that it will! i bet there was a time when huddersfield fans thought they'd always be bigger and better than leeds...

generally football is cyclical but not always. its not impossible you will never get back to the top flight. unlikely but not impossible. nobody knows what will happen and thats why we all love football

Yes, but only one of those was through your position, the other was "fair play"(!) and they were both for the UEFA cup.

How many times have you qualified for Champions League/equivalent since 1993?

Let's face it this sounds like a cripple fight as neither of our records are very impressive <laugh>

On a separate but similar note, and sensibly, where do we see our real position in the hierachy of football (92). Any team can have a very good season or seasons as we are doing at the moment but we could lose our next 10 games. So as a fair judgement where do you see us.
I would go for 16th all things considered i.e. wealth, catchment, attendances, potential (real not historical).

a tad lower, maybe 20th, taking everything into consideration <ok>

in the past 40 years we've spent far more time in the top flight than out of it but we've generally struggled to maintain top flight status, despite a few great seasons.

It's nice for a club to have a decent history trophy and accomplishment wise, Norwich won the Milk Cup in 1985, but I'll me more excited about the game on Sunday, than what we acheived 26 years ago. What I would like to see is both Ipswich and Norwich doing well in the Prem, wiping the smiles off some of those smug faces. Oh, and six easy points for us of course.

The simple truth is that we are both clubs of a similar size and stature. That's why we have this intense rivalry as no one even cares about Colchester! Football goes in cycles and unfortunatley for us we have been in the doldrums for nearly 10 years, but in that time you haven't faired that much better either. The last 2-3 seasons have been amazing for you and I am sure that one day we will be back in the Premiership ourselves. I think that is fair comment! <ok>

Actually, those last ten years have been interesting in a perverse kind of way. Relegation battles can bring lots of excitement, and even the ignominy of league one brought a whole new outlook on things. Then, of course, the fervour of climbing back to the top flight.

I don't think, in retrospect, I'd swap that for a guaranteed average position of 13th in the Championship!
