If my memory serves me correctly, the team of the year is pubilished on Sunday and what with it being voted for by the managers this year, it would be quite a prostigiuous award to be selected. Thought we could have a go at guessing it - I'll begin: Schmeichael (Leciester) Frazer (Soton) Pearce (Reading) Davies (Bham) McCartney ( West Ham) Snodgrass (Leeds) Noble (West Ham) Wittingham (Cardiff) Lallana (Soton) Lambert (Soton) McCormack (Leeds) Honourable mentions to Faye (West Ham), Guly (Soton), Burke (Bham), Green (West Ham), Schneiderlin & Fox (Soton), McAnuff (Reading), Williams (Boro), Sharp (for what he did at Donny) & Cowie (Cardiff) What would your teams look like? Posted it on some other boards as well to see what other supporters think
I like the look of this team. It would be a mouthwatering prospect if they actually were a starting 11! I wonder how well they would fair in the Premier League ? Certainly better than the likes of Wigan !
I think I'd say Reading's Federici instead of Schmeichael (probably coz I've seen more of him) and Kebe more than McAnuff but other than that, spot on. I wonder how many Saints players might be listed!
Believe you can only have a couple from one team...please correct me if I'm wrong (or less right as I prefer to call it). If so, Lambert and Lallana for us.
Yes, I'd expect it to be Federici. Only other candidate would be Green, as they could go for the big name over the top performer. Fingers crossed Frazer gets in there. I'd be so happy for him, really deserves it.
Phillips x 2 from Blackpool? Takes some to score as many as Kevin has done (13) this season at his age. And Matt Phillips surely deserves a mention?
I might be being a bit biased but I could see about 4 players from us getting in. Lallana and Lambert will probably get in and I think Richardson and Hooiveld should get in as well.
pretty good team and basically spot on from my point of view, can't imagine what made you think Schmeichal is the best keeper the league has to offer over the course of the year though. Can think of about 6 or 7 keepers I'd have over him. He always gets overrated because he is a good shot stopper but the amount of blunders he makes when trying to catch the ball and do simple things is ridiculous. I'm not sure Pearce will get in there as well (havn't seen that much of him this year to be fair), theres just a lot of good candidates for CB
Probably a fair shout, I was going on the performances against us as well as a couple I saw on TV. Think Federici has probably overtaken him over the last 2 months anyway...
I guess it depends if they go for a balanced team or what usually happens and the sides have loads of attacking players in them. For example the Reading midfield deserve a mention, but will they be picked? Also will it be a 4-4-2 formation? Goalkeepers: Frederici, Green, Steele, Davis. Full backs: Clyne, Richardson, Bennett (really struggling for left backs). Centre backs: Hooiveld, Gorkss, Faye, Chester. Midfielders: Noble, Leigertwood, Karacan, Cowie, Lallana, Snodgrass, Koren. Strikers: Lambert, McCormack, Rodriguez, Phillips, Vaz Te. How about a 4-2-3-1 Green (West Ham), Richardson (Southampton) Gorkss (Reading), Hooiveld (Southampton), Clyne (Crystal Palace), Leigertwood (Reading), Cowie (Cardiff), Noble (West Ham), Snodgrass (Leeds), Lallana (Southampton), Lambert (Southampton). Subs: Steele (Middlesborough), Faye (West Ham), Karacan (Reading), Wittingham (Cardiff), Rodriguez (Burnley).
These are the questions that make the team of the year (and even player of the year etc) subjective, it's interesting to see who is picked but that doesn't make them definitively the best player in the division. It's a game of opinions really.
Most players of the season are attack minded and many would question where we would be without Lambert or Lallana, however Hooiveld has solidified us no end and Davis has won us games single handedly too.
