    We're not.

In fact, we couldn't be less interested.

If you could feel confident that Fowler had matured as a person over the last few years I would welcome him here as a striker coach initially until he gets match fit and then go from there.

Fowler probably knows more about scoring goals than anyone and if he can pass a fraction of that on to our lot we would be better off.

I also don't go along with the myth that goal scoring is instinctive and therefore can't be taught. When Chilton got hold of Billy Whitehurst he single handedly turned him into a goal scorer.

I get the impression we couldn't be less interested in anyone at the moment. Do you think that's true?

Other than the possible addition of a cheap right back as cover for Rosie, I wouldn't expect any more incomings I'm afraid.

Thought so. I wish the club had just announced that after we got King on loan to stop any speculation.

As if you would know anyway. <whistle> But i also doubt the wisdom of it the more i think about it now. There are younger and cheaper ones available. Problem is are they the answer ? :emoticon-0116-evilg

Spot on. 100% agreed ^^^^^^^^ this. What IMO we need most is a Striker Coach. Fryatt and Mclean can get the goals but i do wonder what they do in training at times. Fowler would be a good striker coach. Again on tuesday against TWS we needed one touch to many. Stewart needs to be shown how to pass the ball into the net instead of blasting it all the time.

Stuart Parnaby looked ok last night but only ok. I dont see a right back as a need. We have others who can play there already at the club. Dudg - East - Garcia and from what i saw last night would be better than Parnaby. imo.

You speak a bit of sense there, who is our striker coach or do we not have one? I think Barmby will probably focus on that side of training with him being an attacking player

I don't think we employ coaches for specific positions. In fact I don't think it's very common to do that at all, except maybe at the very top level.

I might be wrong on this but I don't remember Barmby ever being what you would call a prolific goal scorer. I don't think there would be much he could teach Fryatt about finishing, but someone like Fowler definitely could and he would probably teach McClean not to close his eyes whenever he gets in the six yard box as well.

I don't agree with that, I think Barmby is a lot smarter than Fowler and will get his points over perfectly, you don't have to be a great player to be a great coach.

Agreed. I thought Barmby was a pretty good finisher, he tended to nick a goal for us by being in the right place and sticking one away.

I agree that Barmby is a much better coach than Fowler could ever be, but my point is that Fowler knows a hell of a lot more about finishing and that's the skill our strikers need to be working on more than anything.

Barmby scored 80 goals in 500 league games, predominantly from midfield, he's one of the best finishers I've ever seen, at any level.

I'm not saying Barmby was a bad finisher, but he wasn't in the elite group that included players like; Ian Rush, Fowler, Ian Wright etc and if we have a chance to get someone like that passing their skills to our forwards then the club should consider it.

He's not after a coaching role, he's after a playing role and he's past it, it's simply not going to happen.

I'm sure you're right but that doesn't mean we can't discuss it. Let's face it most of the things discussed on here aren't going to happen.
