I watched it last night on Sky. ColU guy did well.! STill no way he should be dropped - just doesnt send out the right message to the team - nor does he deserve it.

He seems to have kept faith with De Gea - and look at the howlers he's made ! How many SMALL mistakes did the rest of the team make on tuesday? Yes, his SMALL mistake (i thought their player did fantastic to get close to it TBH) was costly, but it was his ONLY mistake of the game - he couldnt get near the first goal- and he had nothing else to do. It sends a real good message to the rest of team , doesnt it, if they think that they might get dropped if they make a mistake.? Its a rubbish argument, oh lets drop him because he made a mistake, oh lets bring in Sullivan because its ' a squad' - as someone else said, what happens if Sullivan makes a mistake when he's brought in? , do you drop him and bring back Hamer? It shows no continuity at all. Yes, drop Hamer when he was flapping like v Sheff U, but apparently, he has been playing well recently- thats gonna send a real good message isnt it? I tell you who needs to be dropped after Tuesdays performance, perm any 1 from BWP,Green or Hollands.
Now it seems that people are under estimating Hamer's contribution to our season. I think he has his faults, but the past 2 months (last game aside), I challenge anyone to show me what he has done wrong.
It wasn't a SMALL mistake, it doubled the deficit between the two sides and it was a stupid mistake to make. He had the ball on his right-foot (his stronger foot) with plenty of time and plenty of options, instead of passing it or kicking it down the field, he put the ball onto his weaker foot when a player was charging towards him. It also wasn't his ONLY mistake either, he did the same thing two or three times later in the game, and Odejayi nearly got a foot on one of them. Its also not the only game where he's made poor mistakes - he cost us the game at Orient away and conceded a terrible terrible goal against Bury, a game we then only managed to scrape a draw in. Dropping Hamer WILL in my opinion send out a message to the squad - that no player is guaranteed a start and that poor performances aren't acceptable. Powell has already this season dropped BWP (who at that time had scored 14 goals), Hayes and Wagstaff (neither of whom had done anything particularly wrong). Also, as for dropping BWP/Green/Hollands, I agree Hollands should be dropped as he's seeming tired and off-form, but it wasn't Green's worst performance to date, and Wagstaff isn't good enough for the starting 11. As for BWP, I don't think he had a poor individual performance, he just wasn't receiving the right service from midfield.
AFter Tuesday, BWP should be dropped for making a SMALL mistake in first half by not shooting when in on goal (when he seemed to be waiting for a pen) - and for generally doing bugger all for the rest of the game.
Bit harsh on Bradders that, you say yourself that Hamer had two things to do in the game - a shot which he missed and a backpass which he failed to deal with other than that in your words "he had nothing else to do." yet for Bradley he tried hard but things just didn't come off.
Like you said, BWP made a SMALL mistake, Hamers on the other hand was a very big mistake. There's a difference between a striker failing to score and a keeper conceding a sloppy goal - there are 9 other players on the pitch who can score, there's only one goalkeeper - and when HE makes a mistake, he puts the whole game in jeopardy and puts a massive weight on the shoulders of the rest of the team. Also, BWP always does bugger all all game - he's most useful when he's loitering around waiting for the ball to come to him or capitalising upon defensive errors - when's he's chasing midfielders all over the pitch, he's not only tiring himself out, but he's also a hundred yards away from the opposition goal.
TBH, i thought he had a dreadful game, if that was 'trying hard' then i def dont want to see him not trying hard !
Whilst I agree Bradders is best in and around the box, it's not true that he does bugger all else. I think it's a horrible misconception that he is lazy or doesn't try... He runs his socks off!
It would be interesting to see the Opta yardage figures for each of the players since whilst the wing runs of Jacko and Green are dramatic evidence of effort being applied, the regular position movements of Kermo and BWP will probably show higher overall yardages during a game.
You're right that he runs his socks off all game, but I didn't say he's lazy - he reads the game brilliantly and maintains focus on every move the defenders make. I feel however that when he 'runs his socks off' in any direction other than towards the goal, he is wasting energy. The main difference between BWP before his goal-drought and during his goal-drought, was that in the latter he tried too hard.
I think he's very clever when he runs the wings and drags centre backs out wide. He did this during his goal scoring phase, and was a large factor for why JJ can come behind at the back post unnoticed. Why he isn't scoring now is simply because the midfield has stopped creating.. he is being forced to drop deeper just to get in to the game.
Completely agree (although he's scored 4 goals in 4 games so 'isn't scoring now' isn't entirely accurate ). It appears that Dale Stephens has been told to play a deeper role, which is really hampering our ability to create chances for the strikers. Also, is brilliant a team-player (and individual) as Yann Kermorgant is, I feel (as do most on here) that Paul Hayes linked up far better with BWP. I referred to it in a previous post, but Kermorgant has surprisingly only had 1 assist this season in the league!

The assist for Kermorgants goal on Saturday went to Green even though it was Haynes that headed the ball towards Kermorgant. I'm afraid that Kermo doesn't get the assists since most of his are head flick ons which somehow may not get credited.
