John Terry has been reinstated as England Captain in case you didn't know. What do you make of this?

My gripe with this is not necessarily to do with Terry, but rather the integrity of Capello. He took the armband away from Terry last year and said he would never be England captain again while he was still manager. So why has he made a u-turn? He's come out of this with egg on his face...again!

Does Terry deserve it? Probably not. But I think he is a good captain and I'm not really bothered that he's got the armband back. But what's happened to the 'headmaster' attitude of Capello?

I dont see why there should even be a permanent captain for the national side, each squad should be picked on form so after picking a squad, choose a captain on the night, it doesnt mean as much as it does to captain your team, where you are expected to be a real leader and example. All this captaincy talk and pointless drama just upsets the likes of Ferdinand and Gerrard and lowers morale because of it. Also Capello has lied to the fans faces again, so why would the players believe a thing he says anyway?

They should just do what they do in other countries, whoever has the most caps in the starting 11 is automatically captain. Problem solved.

To be honest, I don't particularly care much for the England team. I've lost interest at the tender age of 21. Capello came in and initially said he'd shake things up and pick players on merit, which he clearly hasn't done (a la Barton/Glenn Johnson?!) Then when he dropped Terry as captain I agreed with it, now he's gone back to Terry like a dog with his tail between his legs?!

    It's farcical.

Capello's shown weakness by reinstating Terry, gone back on his word which surely doesn't inspire confidence in a manager

I'd drop Terry completely, IMO, he wouldn't be getting a look in the England team if Woodgate wasn't so troubled with injuries.

I don't like Terry as a person but there's no doubting he has passion for the game (even if that is abusing refs), as pointed out, this isn't even about John Terry, this is about Capello flip-flopping. By reinstating Terry not only is he saying, "when I say never I don't mean it" but also that he's had the time and doesn't think anyone else is good enough to be captain. Not good for morale knowing that even after such a public scandal, you cannot displace Terry as captain. Why should the players even try?

Ferdinand played 3 games for England since getting the captaincy, which is not enough for me, but not convinced that Terry should got it back, having made the decision to take it off him.

If someone like John Terry can be captain, why can't Joey Barton get into the squad, despite being in the form of his life

also, tenner bet that Carroll walks into the England squad now that he's a Laverpell player

Joey Barton doesn't play for one of the recongnised 'Big 4' therefore he is a 'scumbag'. If he got a move to Man Utd or Chelsea then he'd become 'no-nonsense'.

Gotta be said that JT is one of the few players in the current setup who actually looks like he gives a **** about putting on an England shirt and for that reason i'm ok with him being re-instated.

What has suprised me is the reaction, be it positive or negative from fans up and down the country. People seem to really have an opinion on this which is great, but i can't bring myself to care that much anymore which I admit is a shocking thing for any fan to say.

But too many times we've been let down by these so called superstars, built up by both ourselves and the media and then crucified when they don't perform. Don't get me wrong, when we are in a major tournament i will always sing for my country, but back end of the domestic season, with so much at stake for my club every game, I just don't see it as that important who the England skipper is (although it is terrific to see that it still matters to so many England fans)<ok>

This. Don't really care either way about Terry being reinstated as captain, but Capello's shown himself to be weak (yet again) with this latest U turn and can't go soon enough
