You have to give managers time, it's not as if Chelsea were at the bottom of the league. I thought AVB stood by his principles completely and have a lot of respect for him. Not seen the odds but Jose loves London and I think he would be a pretty solid bet to come back, Spanish football doesn't compare to Premiership in terms of much really. Rafa doing it part-time would add something to the mix especially if he were to be successful.
Abramovich will end up being the main reason Chelsea never win the CL as proper managers won't touch them knowing they are never given the time to build something.. whatever happened to the "dynasty under AVB"?? never happened.. every single manager in football needs at least one full season to turn things around and have things and staff his way.. annything shorter then you're being unrealistic..
I used to like Chelsea years ago when they were just a normal club without the support of the likes of Abramovich, goes to show how much money tears the heart out of football, instead of Kerry Dixon, Dave Speedie and Pat Nevin and a good honest manager like John Hollins you have supersize egos like Lampard. Terry and Cole dictating affairs, if they don't play then they know they can manipulate the management and owner, disgusting really, the players should be one tier below management but the supersize wages they get gives them power that they don't deserve and haven't earnt.
I don't want to to go on about it too much but I think you're too harsh on those three. The media pick up on everything they do but it isn't their fault that they're high-profile English players. There are bigger egos at Chelsea, one of the biggest being Drogba but he isn't English so you don't hear as much 'scandalous' crap about him. Lampard in particular is a real pro and the media made a big fuss about him being dropped but that doesn't mean he's come out and had a paddy about it. He's got on with it and done his job, usually coming back into the team the next week and proving a point on the pitch. You're not the only one, I think because of the way the media dictate so much crap to us about our best players, it's in everyone's head that they are the bad guys even when they haven't done anything.
The media does place an emphasis on those three but like I said before there is no smoke without fire, I'm sure at least two of those players is a major malfunction at that club for whoever the man in charge might be. You are right to point out Drogba as a big ego also but the impression I get is that it is the English trio who are running the show to all extents and purposes. I guess it is guess-work at the end of the day as to what is actually happening, granted, but I'm fairly sure Lampard and Terry are very influential figures in whatever happens.
I'm fairly sure no players has that much power. Particularly at Chelsea where even the manager doesn't get a say in anything, why would the players have one?
I thought Ancelotti was a great manager for them too. Maybe Abramovich has a Hiddink fixiation and will not rest easy until he is back.
I think Jose would get Torres going again It all went wrong for them when they sacked Ray Wilkins for no reason
The worst sacking (considering Mourinho was 'mutual consent') has to be Avram Grant. As I recall, Chelsea finished 2nd after being level with Man Utd on the last day, only to draw with Bolton whilst Utd won. He got them to the final of the League Cup and also the Champions League - the latter being by far the closest they have ever come to winning it. Granted (see what I did there? ) it was their first season in 4 years in which they had failed to win a trophy, but it certainly wasn't worth sacking him over.
Please oh please don't let it be Mourinho .His "IAM GOD" spouting was even more distasteful than that of PB at the Tigers.I puked every time he was on TV shouting his mouth off.Let the chosen one stay in Spain.
Avram Grant did a very good job at Chelsea. Carlo Ancelotti didnt do too bad either they just went on an awful run of form and he was sacked because of it. He is now doing a good job at PSG When Sven was England manager Chelsea wanted him then so its not out of the question he might get the job on a temporary basis if Di Matteo doesnt hit the ground running
all it takes is for players to be matey with the chairman and they can start undermining the manager and planting doubts in the chairman's mind.
Sounds like people want to believe that certain players are guilty rather than actually seeing any kind of reason to believe so.
Even the Arsenal goalie was on about player power at Chelsea yesterday, there's enough written about it to believe they have too much influence. I think Abramovich paid Mourinho off to keep his mouth shut about certain things when he went in 2007 so I would like to see him come back because the truth will come out with his actions, he will demand certain things off the owner, I suspect either Terry or Lampard will be out of the door. We will see, it is all conjecture like Premier says, depends whether you believe it or not.
My only objection is people blindly believeing it because then it gets spread all over the place and this is how our top players all become public enemy number 1 and when it comes to an England game everyone has got it in for Terry, Cole, Rooney, Gerrard, etc. and the pressure on them makes their jobs impossible. It's no coincidence that they are our best players.
They don't help themselves with their actions off the pitch though do they, all the players you mention there are in bother off the pitch regularly.
But are they any worse behaved than anyone else or is it just anything they do is massively exaggerated by the media? No one will give a **** if some Bradford wingers gets laid but every time an England player gets his end wet it's a massive deal. And ffs how much more can be made out of this Terry race thing? Yawn!
AVB was always onto a loser as soon as he got the Chelski job - not financially, but as far as football goes. He is too young and completely out of his depth. Not saying that in ten years he wouldn't be decent however at a top club; just too young now.
I'd have more sympathy for them if they had done it over the years in the England shirt, but they haven't, none of them. They have achieved for their clubs but when it comes to England, it's a different story. They are a generation of losers, compare that to the 80's and 90's, there's no comparison at all. We need to sweep them out and build a new England.
