They had more games to play, that is a fact, only now they've played them, they probably don't have any more than us left to play, that's also a fact. Just saying like...
Fact....If they beat Chelsea thats at least one more game to play maybe more and in the same space of time. I was actually meaning ""originally"" that Birmingham will play more games than us over the season,, Fact.
Updated after Cardiff 0-2 West Ham. I think after this weekend's results our chances of a play-off place have improved a bit, but our chances of automatic have receded. West Ham and Southampton seem to have found their second wind while Reading now seem to be their main challangers.
Agreed, we have too much ground to make up and realistically we aint gonna catch the top 2. Leeds tomorrow is an absolute must win now though if we are to gain a top 6 finish
Yes we could really do with a win or preferably a winning run now. The problem hasn't been our results so much as our 5hit luck with postponed games which have coincided with the top three getting wins (somebody up there doesn't like us). The trouble is the wider the gap gets from the top the more teams seem to lower their expectations. I hope we don't fall into that trap because the best way of ensuring a play-off slot is to battle for automatic promotion. Apart from Brighton our last four results have been very good, but Leeds also played well against Southampton so a win tomorrow night will be a big achievement.
Agree with all of this particularly the bold part. Only weeks ago we were talking about automatic promotion and without losing a game we've dropped to 9th and suddenly making the playoffs looks like a task.
Being a bit bored on the last couple of weekends with no matches, I have come up with a predictor based on: current position current form statistical results between different positions in the league [for example, when 1st plays 24th the most likely result is a home win] like all such endeavors it can't take in account things like injuries, hangovers, crap referees, etc. for what its worth, the current prediction is: 1. Southampton 2. West Ham (on goal difference from Reading) 3. Reading 4. Cardiff 5. City 6. Blackpool 7. Birmingham 8. Middlesbrough 9. Brighton one factor working for us is that we have more games against teams outside the promotion/playoff contention (and more against relegation zone teams) than any of the top 10.
Whilst a win against both TWS and Ipswich are important we have yet to arrive at MUST WIN games. In fact i would trade the Ipswich game for TWS game in an instant. But 2 wins this week is well within our means. In saying that though,,But for better finishing on saturday TWS would have given Saints a sound beating. The fun has begun and Cardiff also look down on themselves. If they lose @ Brighton on wednesday it could well be a struggle for the taffs to get going again. AG and MMcK are not talking to each other for starters. Oh dear....Lol.
Right now I would take that, but to be honest I would swap those statistics for a 5-0 win tomorrow night because that's what we need most. City need to start believing they can brush teams aside rather than being confident of staying in games long enough to get the only goal. The top three currently have the arrogance that they will win every game and that alone is often worth a goal start. It seems like most of the pieces are in place for us, but we just need that big blast to blow the shackles off so the players can really go for it.
