After taking an early lead - a cracking 25 yarder from Minkwtz - the Academy lost 3-1 tonight, in front of 1000 of the faithful. Burnley have clearly maintained their record of developing youngsters and we were simply beaten by the better team. As always, the only available report is from the away lot - http://www.burnleyfootballclub.com/page/LatestHeadlines/0,,10413~2640175,00.html#continue
The Club have now posted a report- http://www.fulhamfc.com/Club/News/NewsArticles/2012/March/QuarterFinalReport.aspx
Never mind, we all know they're a talented group and will (hopefully) go far. They may have fared better with Trotta and Kacaniklic?
Awaiting a report from a friend who said he was going. Sounds like the Academy made a good start to the game but failed to capitalize on and let Burnley back in. Wonder how Valjing is, anyone heard any news.
That they are. There is a really good article in the 'Fultime' magazine just out, featuring Kit Symons and Mark Pembridge. The pick of the quotes is "We want our players to develop in to good players, but we want them to be good people as well". Kit also " ..passionately believe(s) that the number of players who are good enough (to play in the first team) will go through the roof in the next few years". In the same ‘Fultime’ Jol also talks at length about about creating a culture at the Club which has “integration of the youngsters into the elite group earlier“. And that “this is a traditional club in which youngsters can develop and we will look after them”. He also thinks “we have six or seven players who have the potential”. Tankovic gets special mention as do Altman, Williams and Mesca. Yes, indeed all very promising
