Why I've said official I don't know, maybe just to keep all game comments on the same thread. Anyway, I thought I'd pass on my views about the upcoming game at Villa Park. A ground where Fulham have had some reasonable success in the past. We're going in to the game on a good run and playing some of the best football I've seen for some time. Can we take our winning stretch to 4 games this weekend? On the performance of Sunday I think we stand a chance. What does everyone else think? Villa are still a good side though. Should be a good game. I'm thinking a 1-2 to Fulham? COYW
Yes I think we have a good chance against Villa. They are toothless up front with Bent injured and no other significant players up front. If we manage to get 3 points it will be a booster for bigger things.
N'Zogbia looks like their only decent attacking threat. Been looking through a Villa forum on a different site and the vast majority of their fans think we will crush them and the rest are hoping for a draw. I'm hoping for 3 points too and think it's very possible, all we have to do is hypnotise our players into thinking their playing at home. A fourth successive win would be something special for us. Same XI as against Wolves with Kelly in for Hughes at RB if he's available. He would be much better than Hughes against N'Zogbia.
I'd love to think we'll continuing our winning run, and it's not out of the question if the Pog and Dempsey are on fire like they have been. But, to me this one's got draw written all over it. Villa are the leagues draw specialists (12 and counting) and, for all our attacking flair, we've mustered a feeble 8 goals in 13 away games all season. That, and the fact that the last three meetings have ended all square, makes me think that this will be the same. I'd be delighted to be proved wrong, though. Four wins on the bounce including two away would really show that we're progressing.
This. We're on a high after three on the spin for the first time in a ages, so a win isn't out of the question, but a draw seems more likely to me.
Probably fair comments from Fulhamish and Bidley, although now is a good time to be playing Villa and a bad time for them to be playing us. The point is, even if we do lose or draw, we're in a position to not be worried by that. Let's enjoy the run while it lasts, and look to starting another one once it stops.
Think Jol will be more cautious away from home. Close game. Would like the same team just to try and get some consistency. But see the point on Hughes who did well, but not his best position. Would like to see Kelly or even try Simon Davies at RB
I don't want it to stop though Captain! I'm loving the footballs we play right now and I don't see why MJ should change the way we play away from home. Lets take it to them and see what happens.
Let it be known I'm being ridiculously conservative in what I say about this game. We've been massively unpredictable all season, I don't expect it to change just yet. You guys are right though, lots of good signs for us.
wheels to come off and we lose? Nah never, a point. We like a draw on the road and they like to draw period.
Villa vs Fulham has draw written all over it. But there is still a reasonable chance of 4 on the spin. I agree that we should keep the same team, but bring in Kelly if fit. C O Y W
I think if you guys go out and attack Villa, you'll have the 3 points in the bag. If you play too defensively the game will end up as a dull draw. I hope Dempsey hits another hat trick.
Villa really are there for the taking, in their past two games they have failed to beat both Wigan and Blackburn, two or the poorer sides in the league. Without Bent and Keane they are lacking an out and out goalscorer up front. If we play for the win, then I think we will win. But will Jol put all his eggs in one basket?
Seriously Bidley, I'm all for writing an article with 'I was wrong bla bla bla, you were all right bla bla bla' but yourself and tosh made it so hard for me to do so. I don't think you and tosh quite understand that I'm delighted to be wrong if it means FFC are doing well.
No offense caused, but thank you anyway. When FFC lose, I am not happy, I know a lot of FFC fans who weren't pleased with Jol until recently but the majority of us were willing to stick with him, either because we had faith he would come good or purely because there was no-one better to take the reigns. I had my doubts and to some extent I still do, but thankfully Jol is going very far to prove me wrong.
