Have done three previous (winning) match threads out of three, so feel I should do it again. Could someone sticky this please! This is without a doubt a massively important game! 3 points is a must if we are serious about getting promotion! Last game: SAINTS 1-1 Ipswich (Lambert scoring was not enough after a wicked deflected Jason Scotland shot meant that Saints dropped two points) My Team: Davis Richardson, Fonte, Hooiveld, Harding (Fox if fit!) Chaplow, Cork, Schneiderlin, Lallana Sharp, Lambert Subs: Martin, Hammond, De Ridder, Lee, Reeves My Prediction: SAINTS 2-0 Barnsley Lambert, Chaplow Saints really need a win against Barnsley to keep pressure on the teams around us. Looking at current form it really is going to be out of West Ham, Reading and Saints for the top two! We can't lose this now! COYR!! More to follow...
Barnsley is in poor form at the moment with four points in seven games, and for all the hand-wringing we have sixteen points from our last eight. 2-0 win for me...Lambert scores early to allow the crowd to breathe a little, and a second goal before half time to make it comfortable.
We need to score early on. If we don't, Barnsley will dig in and make it difficult for us. If we score early, I can see us scoring a few. I predict 3-1. COYR!!
Ben Reeves is out on loan, so won't be on the bench and where did you hear Fox is fit? Contrasts to what I've heard?
Haha, honestly used to back him but has been poor recently and Fox has been class. My opinion is increasingly changing!
Appointed Referee is David Phillips A bit of curates egg, good sometimes, but also not adverse to using plenty of yellows to try and regain control.
You got your chance and all we managed was a draw! It's all about squad rotation, and it's the Golden Boot's turn. Sticky as requested, btw. 3 points. No pressure.
Assuming Fox isn't fit, as certainly would appear to be the case: Davis Richardson Fonte Hooiveld Harding Guly Cork Morgan Lallana Sharp Lambert Martin, Chaplow, De Ridder, Lee, Connolly Harsh on Hammond, but someone needs to make way for Chaplow and I don't want that to be De Ridder as I think he did enough last night to warrant another place in the 16. So sorry Hammond, but hard luck. Very tempted to start Connolly with Lambert, as he's the most used to our usual style of play (with is why I'd 100% drop Lee. As impressive as he was, and as threatening as he appeared, we changed our style to suit him, which I did not like. It's not broke, so why fix it? Keep the ball on the ground, and let the midfielders create. If it's not working, then turn to Lee and have the defenders stick balls over the top for him to chase). However, with all respect to Barnsley, this shouldn't be the hardest home away we'll ever have, so what better opportunity to try and get Sharp's career with us kick-started?
I think the key player we missed was chaplow last night. Assisting Morgan & Cork in midfield helps us to dominate specially at home. I think Lee deserves his spot in the team as well. Davis Richardson Fonte Hooiveld Harding (fox if fit) Chaplow Cork Morgan Lallana Lee Lambert Martin, Hammond, De Ridder, Sharp, Gully 4-0 Win! COYR's can't wait as I've got a ticket for this match!
would love chaplow back, the last 2 games he played in we won 4-0 and 3-0, and the struggled without him
