What do you think every child should have a go at?

As it says in the title, share the things that you think every child should have a go at.

For me, it is building a go kart. I remember the one we made out of wood and the wheels from an old pram. There was a steep hill by our house and we used to go flying down it at impressive speeds.

I love the idea of soap box derbies that they have in the US but I have never seen something similar in the UK.

    **Sick suggestions will be reported**

Every child should be made to support Montrose for a year to get them used to the futility and despair of modern living.

You can visualise his comments now.

Another one I think every child should do is muck out on a farm. Some of my happiest childhood days were on my Granda's farm.

    Kids today should have a go at many things;

Giving up their seat on a crowded train or bus
Shutting the f*ck up in the cinema
    Saying please and thank you
Pulling their trousers up from around their knees
Travelling at normal walking pace, not as slow as sloths
    Using deodorant
    Learning to queue
Using a rubbish bin and not dumping their KFC boxes on the floor
Going to school and actually learning something
Not blaming stupidity on dyslexia or ADHD
Stop saying "there isn't anything to do" when they get free travel and entrance to museums, galleries and parks cost nothing
Get a hobby that doesn't involve stabbing each other
Talking properly, not in patois or in text speak

A dose of National Service would sharpen them up. Nothing to do with any form of weapons training mind, they all know how to use knives and guns already, but actually spending 2 years working for the state between leaving education and being allowed to start work. They could get paid or defer wages to pay off university fees it they would rather start clearing their debts. No opt out for posh kids, no opt out for any religious or cultural reasons.

Go on public transport without blasting their ****e music through their phone speakers.

A lot of them should also get a clip round the ear from their folks.

To be fair a clip round the ear isn't cruelty, it's discipline. I got much worse as a child (wooden spoon, sally rod, even a length of rubber pipe) and I turned out fine.

I got a frying pan over the napper when I was younger.

    Done me no harm.
