You do know that 26,000 @ £5 a ticket is like 5,000 paying £25 through the gate! So turnover wise you are way down the league

You have a point there TC, we have 10,000 season ticket holders, who of course, paid full price. So we had an extra 16,000 people who paid £5 which generated income of £80,000 now then, if the game would have been at normal prices then we would have had a probable gate of 15,000 at say £20 ave. so the extra 'pay at the gate' income would have been £100,000. We would have needed to gererate profit of £1.25 in extra matchday spend from the 'new' fans to cover the loss in revenue from ticket sales. My guess is that we probably broke even from the exercise. How's you doing mate? All fine?

All is good mate I doubt this £5 lark will sit well with the full paying ST holders - Wouldn't be too bad if they came back and paid full price in the subsequent game, but they clearly didn't. Basically, you season ticket holders have subsidised the others (who are probably non Charlton supporters)
Also think a lot of them are parents who have taken their kids to games for first time or something, probably bought a hot dog at the stupid £2.50 price or whatever it is, so really, revenue/turnover probs went up...
I agree, Ted. If you think of what Hartlepool have done this season, every home game costs a fiver, the catch being that you have to fork out for it at the very start. So, they sell 5000 season tickets for £100 each, which is twice their average home attendance for last season and that pumps half a million quid into what is, with respect, a very small club before anyone's kicked a ball or even I suspect knows what the team is like. Their average attendance this season is well over this and they fill their ground to 70% of capacity every week. And when you've got a captive audience of consumers, they graze non-stop, pretty much like a field full of prime Aberdeen Angus - it's a basic fundamental of marketing. Shirts, scarves, beer, pies, hotdogs, programmes, golden goal tickets - the lot. Someone jokingly remarked that they have to actually queue ten minutes at The Valley for a burger when there's a ticket promotion on. Yes, absolutely, and that's the living proof that the inducement has worked. One other factor that I don't think anyone could have predicted last night was the truly pathetic turnout of Colchester fans. Just 270 - quite extraordinary - it's not as if it's a six hour round trip.
last nights attendance was piss poor which proves my football for a fiver rant to be true...non canme back BUT Millwall fans talking about attendances now that is funny. 13,000 that we got last night would be a a good crowd at the new den.

Also Mikeyboy - Did you know that last season, our average away attendance of 1,201 was almost double Charlrton's average of 677. Why so bad away?
Because we were going to Carlise and Hartlepool whilst you were going to Leeds, Forest, and Brighton (are the Pink Lions still going?). We'll be bringing more than 677 to the Den next season TC Are you ever going to open the lower part of the away stand to supporters TC?
