Suli has been as good as gold all season waiting for his chance and Chris has always said that the squad is there to be ready when called upon. So is it time to give Sulivan a start against Notts County and tell Hamer that he needs to win his starting position back?

In all honesty Hamer's poor decision making for the second goal deserves him being dropped on its own. I do not think you can blame him for the first goal (sometimes you have to give credit to the goalscorer) and it was a wonderful throw out halfway through the first half to set Jacko free BUT perhaps it is SULITIME now?

    <cheers>

What encouragement is there for Suli if you say to him that no matter how well he plays (if selected) against Notts County, he will be dropped against Scunny?

Cant believe it - 1 small(albeit costly) mistake, and you want him dropped. !
I thought most people were saying since Sheff ?U thast he's been solid?
25 goals conceded from 35 games and you want him out !
How do you know Sullivan gonna be any better ? (after seeing him at Orient, i'm not sure !)

    Wow, fickle or what ?!

If Hamer should be dropped for that one mistake, BWP should be hung and Green shot. Actually unbelievable.

Please let's leave the weasel words and double-talk to the media and to football professionals who have allowed themselves to be brainwashed by the media into talking that crap.

If he is left out, it will be because he has been "dropped".

I personally don't have an opinion on whether he should be dropped or not. But if he is physically fit then he doesn't need "resting". Goalkeepers rarely do. The exception might be a goalkeeper is has been under heavy fire all season in a struggling team and has taken a psychological battering. That does not apply to Hamer who has had little to do in many matches.

But if he is not 100% fit then he could be omitted until he is. That would be neither "resting" nor "dropping".

I think Solly should be dropped, after all, one of his crosses last night got blocked- and he's been rubbish all season.

Also, i think Powell should be sacked - how dare we lose a game ?!!!!!

Ahh I see, we don't operate a squad system at all! Hamer is the starting keeper and Sulivam only gets picked if Hamer is not fit to play or suspened?

That, and if his form is not up to standard. It is up to standard. Over the course of the season, I can think of 2, maybe 3 goals that he is to blame for or should have done better with. Which over 35 games is brilliant. I like Sullivan too, but this stinks of scapegoatism

Really cant believe it - if anybody needs 'resting' based on last nights display, then BWP,Hollands,Green and Jacko , in that order, would be before Hamer in the Q.

Problem with dropping BWP,Hollands,Green and Jacko is that the replacements are not of the same quality (Haynes is not a winger by his own admission) whereas Sulivan is, IMHO, of equal quality to Hamer.

I appreciate the question being asked and the reasons, but if he hadn't made that mistake it'd have been 1-0?! Right? Yeah give Sullivan a go by all means but not just because of one mistake.

At some point in their career, every goalkeeper has had a clearance charged down and go in, making them look a right plonker. Hamer's was last night.

I don't see that as reason enough to drop him. That's not to denigrate Sullivan, who to my mind is a capable replacement, but not as good as Hamer.

Even before his mistake I have never been convinced that Hamer is a better goalie than Sullivan, even allowing for Sullivan's inconsistent distribution. We all want the best possible team don't we, so why the reaction against playing our other goalie, who hasn't done a lot wrong when he has played, only the odd wild kick out. And it's not as though this was Hamer's first mistake, he's been quite fortunate at times.I got the impression he was being targeted by Colchester and my heart was in my mouth at other times when they were hunting him down. So even before last night I thought Sullivan had the right to prove he is the better 'keeper.

i wish they'd talk to hamer. he plays almost like a sweeper. i kept saying last night that i'd rather him pass to a defender and they distribute it. if they mess up, there's hamer to fall back on. if hamer messes up then it costs us a goal. he's been pretty faultless this season considering the amount of clean sheets we've had (so i give him credit for that), but i wish he'd leave the in-play passing to the defenders and the rest of the team.

Nail on the head for me. I think Hamer has stepped up in the past 2 months (sheff games esp), but I do feel there is always that chance he will be at fault at some point, whether a flap at a cross etc.

I wouldn't drop him, but I would also be at complete ease with Suli coming in as I think they are on par.

We had a young keeper a few seasons ago who wasn't given a chance, even when first choice keeper was injured, he is now first choice keeper at the team in third place in the SPL. He left us on a free and is now said to be worth £1m.

Not giving your number 2 a chance (when appropriate) to prove himself can sometimes come back and bit you!
