Good Morning Leeds fans, 0-0 draw last night, thats no wins in 3, although we have only let in 1 goal. What would you have settled for. Paul Robinson has penned an initial deal for a month, with a clause to extend to the end of the season, apparantly he can play anywhere in defence... Lonners was on form last night, and kept Hull quiet, did anyone from here make the trip??? Reading through the hull thread, from the start they were (in my opinion) itching for a fight, Im glad the game is over. Was this game there cup final??? Where is the furthest you have travelled to watch Leeds; have you ever followed them abroad. Have you ever gone to an away match, and not got to see the game?? Song of the day is :- Dire Straights 'Brothers in arms' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhdFe3evXpk&ob=av2e
Elland, back in March 78 I travelled over to see the Whites play Liverpool at Anfield and it was snowed off. My folks were bringing me over for my birthday and I think it was on paddys day. I was gutted because it would have been my first live game to see them. I did get over in the summer though and was allowed into the trophy room and inside the ground. It kind of made up for it.
Morning - When Warnock took over I didn't so much care about results (this season) it was more a case that I wanted to see a change. I wanted to see some magic that he was actually going to make a difference. He has certainly got the defence playing better and I am still trying to suss out his long term plan. With Bruce and Bromby starting ahead of Connolly and a new LB coming in and White playing midfield the safe bet is that one way or another we shall see at least two new defenders signed at the end of the season. I have had more than my say on the match thread, I usually steer clear of them apart from maybe 1 or 2 comments but they clearly believe they are something they are not and I agree, every opportunity to talk about non match related subjects and turn it to a slanging match were taken by them and not until they accused us of doing it. Dutch Mountain Dog needs putting down, I have a feeling he is the illegitimate brother of AKCJ Only been to three away matches: Scum Peterborough Ipswich As I live in Northampton though it is the home matches that cause me more grief
I was one of the pussies in the seated area A bonus was being so near to the dug out and to see Fergies face when the fans were singing about his past and more so when that goal went in at the end was worth three points in itself. I used to get to about a dozen home games a season, then I got married and being in Northampton which is a fair old round trip need I say more...
Morning all. Just been reading the match thread. Listened to the game on the radio & it sounded as though Lonners had a pearler. Just as well by the sound of it. What is it with Hull Whinging & whining so much? Were they hard done by? Were we dirty? Was Becchio diving more than normal? I know Hull is just a small town near Grimsby & I know last night was their cup final. But the kr%p coming out of that board was getting silly. Unless we win on Saturday, I think play offs may now be beyond us, which would be a pity if that happened. But at least we appear to have sorted things out defensively. 1 goal against in 3 games is a massive improvement. All we need now is to start scoring again.
Morning all Boggers, I think the play offs have gone mate and its time for Warnock to settle on an 11 for the season & work out where to strenghen but stranger things have happened. Yep, the Hull lot are taking it a bit to far. If it was started on our page I would have shut the thread down by now, its obviously run its course. Tell me did we react like that when Kelvin Davies kept the saints in the game all game & we walked away with 0 points? Nah. Its football it happens & I am pleased with a 0-0 at Hull even though every game was a must win. Hope you enjoyed your birthday pal
Morning Bucks.. Firstly Hull have always had an inferior complex when it comes to Leeds United, like a lot of other small bitter Yorkshire teams. Leeds United have always and will always be a big scalp to them. I don't think a play off spot has gone yet, but with teams ahead of us with games in hand it will be difficult. But IMO the pressure is off the team a bit, because they aren't realistically expected to make them. So maybe the players can go out a bit more relaxed and play their natural game and maybe pick up the points that are needed. I doubt all the other side above us are all going to win their games. I'm also hoping we do play with a bit of grit, even if we can play with 60% of the aggression from the Revie's teams it'll help. DIRTY LEEDS UNITED, I love the sound of that.
Who YWBK? Fair points all round Bucks. A win & plenty of goals in our favour, & top 6 is still just about dooable. A draw or loss & we've no chance. 1 goal against in 4 games suggests we're getting harder to beat. So making the playoffs would give us a chance of getting to the final. That said, I think its a tall order & we should start looking forward to next season.
Shako & Boggers Agree & yeah I want teams to fear Dirty Leeds again. We did become a bit of a shambles in patches under Grayson, due to the numbers concedeed, we were entertaining though thats for sure. Lets hope Warnock can inject some fighting spirit into the lads. He knows how lucky they are to pull on the white of Leeds united & if he can get the balance & squad right I believe he will be the one to take us back up. (if Bates doesnt piss him off first!)
Terrible news mate. Sorry to hear that. I have nothing but respect for anyone out there even though I disagree with the politics behind it. Brave people. I would hate it if my sons signed up although I would respect there choice I wouldnt be able to sleep at night.
Morning all, It looks like we've left it too late this season, but what a fantastic opportunity we now have to assemble a squad & establish a playing style for next season. The advantage we have over other teams is to look upon the remaining games as an extended pre-season, giving ourselves a four month head start. With Warnock at the helm I've no doubt whatsoever that we'll achieve automatic promotion next season, & I don't think he'll need much money to do it. He's already sorted the defence out, the players are responding to him, & we've at least become harder to beat. Getting rid of the deadwood over the summer will allow him to get his own men in, & judging by Webber he too can spot a bargain. Let's face it, we haven't the players to play tippy tappy pretty football, & if we have to resort to cynical, ultra professional football then so be it. Everyone still calls us dirty Leeds anyway so they won't be disappointed, & I'd rather kick our way to 0-0 draws & 1-0 victories than gallant 4-3 defeats. We're dirty Leeds, & long may it continue. It's in our DNA.
Bucks I don't understand the politics behind it, just gutted to be honest with ya although I understand the reasons for him wanting to be out there He is 21 on Saturday
Thats shocking mate. Poor family. Without going into too much detail Kissa theres worse going on in plenty of countrys that arent rich in oil & we dont stick our nose in. Nor do the yanks. LIE- hello mate, completley agree. But when you say 4 months left to go, it does make me wonder if we can put on a late charge like so many teams do. Although defeat or a draw at Boro then surely thats it. Mind you I said the same about Saints & Hull
Sorry to hear about your pal YWBK, & Bucks, I agree mate, it's all about oil. Don't know why we have to be Uncle Sam's poodle.
