It's not unreasonable - he was being widely tipped for the Team GB job, before Liverpool ruined his reputation in less than six months - and it fits the FA blueprint for a coach: * He's not controversial (which is why Brian Clough was never offered the job) * He's coaching a smaller club (think about it - none of Ramsey, Greenwood, Robson, Taylor, Hoddle, Keegan and McClaren were in charge of "big" clubs before joining England) * He's got a long-standing reputation * He'd be cheaper than some of the more OTT suggestions the press are chucking about
...and he's English. The only problem for the FA would be in dealing with the ire of the public and the inevitable backlash and kicking they will get from the gutter press when they don't get their man. I just hope that the FA can grow a pair of balls to stand up to it all, instead of taking the easy route and simply appointing Harry because he is the popular choice.
