They all play for Saints, we're top of the league and still people have to moan at the same old players! Why can't we support them at this crucial time ffs!? They need us, and with you on their backs they aren't gunna improve are they? Support, not slate
I have actually decided i dislike most saints fans... yea i said it... or i just hate most people cant tell. Tired of negativity
Just because you criticise a player doesn't mean you don't support them. These players are earning a killing, and the fans have the right to criticise them if they don't perform up to scratch, like Dan Harding didn't tonight.
I think that most people just over react so soon after the match. A few days later we all realize that we can't affect the result and just look forward to the next game.
Well let's see. Shall we blame Guly this match, or Harding, or Hooiveld [good gracious, the new hero blamed..?], or the old Captain Hammond [crikey, he must be good for a shot in the dark] or Lambert [oh no, he scored again - bother]. Chung maybe [ran about a lot and took Sharp's place, while doing so] as he didn't score again..? You just can't shake the old Saints fan... out of the Saints fan.
I agree with this, we support the team through thick and thin and have a right to moan, get frustrated ect if someone does something stupid or ****s up. Tonight we should of won, Harding had a bad game and people are frustrated at that, why do so many people moan when we vent our opinions. I don't agree with the constant hate abuse that drags on but this is a forum where we should be able to discuss our opinions, good points from the game and bad points and also how we rate the players. We are in a very good situation which no one expected at start of season and all our expectations have grown, this will lead to more hurt/anger ect if we slip up and if we don't finish top 2 people will be gutted. I don't see this forum as a place to only celebrate the good, I see it as a way to connect with fellow saints fans and have good, friendly conversations with people who love my team as much as me, please let us carry on doing that and stop moaning about anyone who isnt100% positive.
I can't stand this "don't criticise your own players" attitude - why not?! Blind support and optimism is hardly better! Booing someone every time they touch the ball is poor showing, saying somebody has had a bad performance when they have had a bad performance, or saying they are a bad player when they are a bad player, is not exactly the most heinous crime.
Good for whom? Criticism means analysis and highlighting strengths and weaknesses. For example, I like Hammond for his total commitment, but I look for a midfield player to show himself more when a defender needs an outlet. Trouble is that this doesn't scan well as a football "shout", so we revert to "Hammond you're (expletives deleted)" when he makes a mistake. Having the conversation after the match discussing a player's performance is one of the reasons to go to the game. Slagging the player off during the game is another matter, imo. It's this with which people, myself included, get pissed off.
I get the impression that a lot of the posters on here suffer from OCD, especially when it comes to Guly, Harding and Puncheon, some of the criticism may be justified, but the negativity is damaging, if you can't be positive just keep it to yourself, it isn't helpful.
Unfortunately this place is always good for venting after a bad result, usually best to steer clear for the night and come back the next day. Not that yesterday was particularly bad, they beat West Ham 5-1.
Nice one. Ipswich are an unpredictable lot as before the West Ham game they lost at home to Forest. But take your point, and it's also true that we should have won 3 or 4-0 last night - but we should have lost 6-1 on Saturday. Isn't this why the teams play and we go and watch rather than letting a computer decide the results?!
I agree we're allowed to criticse, but continual criticism of the same player is what gets me (harding, guly, puncheon, hammond etc)
Just deleted what I was going to say because this morning is not the time...we dropped two points and we all feel like crap. Adkins will note where things didn't work, but he won't be pointing fingers, so let's not pick on individual players when we were raving about the team a few days ago.
Indeed, we nearly forgot him. A timely reminder from sharpshooter11 that Aaron Martin was crap against Ipswich. Even though he didn't even appear on the pitch. please log in to view this image
