Solent City was mentioned once, many years ago.

They are a small club, just because they used to be quite good doesn't make them big. Look up the word "successful"

OK, they're historically more successful than we are. Is that good enough for you..?

    What is there to debate?

We are top, Ipswich are 14 th. We are going up, they are not. We smashed they 5-2 at Portman road and we will beat them tonight (not necessarily by a big margin, but we´ll get the 3 points). They have players who are getting over gambling addictions and turn up late to training because they have been visiting night clubs in Newcastle, While we ,on the other hand, have players who actually respect the club and fans. We had a higher average attendance than Ipswich in last season (in league 1), which means we have the bigger and better fan base and we ,therefore, the bigger club.

The future is bright and it´s red and white b*tches.

Well thats not arrogant at all is it. You can't say we are going to win - no game is a certainty. And to say we are going up - that is still far from certain.

This over-confidence makes me feel a tadge nervous :emoticon-0107-sweat they can't have won 5 in their last 6 by some sheer fluke.

This will happen at some point in the future, when (and no doubt they will be) the planning and building laws are relaxed. The land between the two cities is largely owned by property developers waiting to pounce on this relaxation. This however would not have any effect on a proposed solent city football team.

Too true; I have noticed a 'band-wagon' mentality of late where we seem to have attracted a number of 'fans' on this site that seem to want to be so dismissive and disrespectful to fans of other teams...

Some Saints fans are talking a hell of a lot sense here. It's all a bit Jekyll and Hyde!

Think it's partially a response. Because we are where we are, we've attracted a surprising number of WUMs over the past couple months who show up at random to tell us that we're not all that good, and in response a fair number of our fans have cranked it up to 11 as if we're going to not only walk this league, but walk straight into Champions League next season. Silly all the way around.

Interesting point JoeyB. I'd like you to put a time scale on that one. As it happens, I believe you're right, but not for many years yet, IMO. 20-30 years hence, and then only depending on the fortunes of each individual club, the culture that fosters between each club, and the speed in which the metropolis is allowed to grow. Bear in mind also that cities as small as Bristol have two football clubs. Yes, you could argue that Bristol can't sustain two successfully, and possibly should have one club, but that's the culture. People can be awkward cusses.
